Damier Ebene 30 Speedy 2006 vs 2023

Since I've been wracking my brain with all the discussion(s) about the leather changes over the last 10 years, I've reached way back to find a 2006 DE Speedy 30 online and it would be about $650.00 less to go that route than to go new from the LV site.
I'm a Mono girl myself but I really want to have a Speedy to wear in the rain and snow this coming winter.
I've gone over the pros and cons - shiny leather vs matte leather, peeling vs cracking, and all the opinions in between.
The only thing I DO know is that I don't want a Bandolier version.

So....
2006 Vintage DE (made in France!) vs 2023 Brand New DE (made in USA).

Thoughts?

I totally prefer the matte leather. It has put me off buying older DE items because of this. No particular reason, I just prefer the look of it. Can you still buy a non-b version though, I thought they’d been discontinued?

yes yes - still on the US site.

I rather buy new. But that me. I prefer the new look of leather. But I would still prefer if LV opted a finer smooth soft leather.

I would rather buy new. My Speedy 30 DE is a 2016 and was a surprise gift from my husband for a promotion I had received. That bag still looks brand new! One of my favorites!
