One of the prongs on my engagement ring is now bent/dented, and the diamond rotates slightly in the setting. I think this happened while I was petting a friend's puppy last week and the dog bit down and around the ring basket. I literally had to pry its mouth off of my ring. I immediately noticed the dents and loose stone after that.
I've contacted Jewelers Mutual and they've given me the OK to have it repaired by the jeweler who made the setting. I have to ship it to him. How should I ship the ring? I've heard that USPS Registered Mail is the safest and cheapest, but that it takes a long time. I would need to insure the ring for shipping.
Also, has anyone had to make a claim through Jewelers Mutual? Their customer service seems great so far, but I've had terrible experiences with insurers in the past.
