Kitty: great thread. Dooney has come out with some uniquely named leather collections
over the years. Even at the time, listening to the explanations on QVC by Sue Clifton,
the very knowledgeable Dooney rep, it was sometimes hard to really understand the'
differences between the leathers. And the Dooney site seems to have less detail over
the years. For the newer collections, there is very little info available.

Does anyone know anything about the leather Dooney used in the CITY collection?
I love that City collection leather.... it's smooth, finely grained, and soft.
It does not feel as if it's coated. But I'm curious as to how it was treated
and if it's full grain or top grain leather.
The City Collection introduced the Barlow style handbag which is now available in
many different Dooney leathers.

Thanks, LJ! I particularily wanted to start this, as someone whose collection is 99% pre-loved. And browsing the ILD site, I see some items called Cambridge, Selleria. There is no explanation of the leather.

I don't know if you saw in the other thread, but I contacted D&B about the new Sweety collection. The rep explained the leather in the email.

No, I didn't see the response you got. Can you repost the info here?

Samba

Does anyone have any bags from this line? I really like the heart lock on the items. A few weeks ago, I saw this bag being sold on ThredUp, and I really liked it.

What is the Toledo line? Was that a different type of leather used? The finish on these bags looks very smooth with a shiny finish.

Also, what is the Emerson line? These bags have a very clean finish to them, and look structured. And from what I can tell, no organization inside, well maybe 1 pocket.

Emerson isn't that old. It is a fine grained leather, possibly with a waxed or sanded
finish or very light coating. The bags in the collection were structured designs,
and the trim and bags were the same color. The interior was lined and had
standard Dooney pockets.

Toledo is an older line. The finish is shiny, but not patent leather.
Probably a coating of some kind. The leather was soft and the styles
were generally slouchy and similar to Florentine styles. The trim on
the Toledo was generally in a contrasting color.

At least, that is what I remember.

The Toledo leather scratches easily, but it doesn’t buff easily like Florentine. It only buffs out a little and doesn’t blend all the way. the colors are very vibrant and they have a shiny glow. Feels coated kinda waxy and it’s super thick thick heavy Leather. Toledo has the gold plate instead of the leather patch. I have one Toledo bag, mail satchel in Bordeaux.

I love your bag! This is one I'm always checking to see if it's been brought back. Aside from the leather type it's made in the flo Stanwich style - a favorite carry!
