Sssh.. I'm feeling sort of upset and desperate now because I just can't find my diamond studs. They're half a carat each and a gift from the in laws. I have this family function next week and am expected to wear them. I'm thinking of buying a substitute while I hunt them down. A friend of mine says I should get a pair of cubic zironias because its cheaper while another tells me moissanite is better value as they last longer. Advice anybody? In the meantime I'm going to try "packing" the drawer.

Thank you ame.
Are there different grades for CZs? I've googled a little and the price range seems quite wide and the language is almost diamond-like.
i've just "packed" the jewellery drawer, still nothing :(( I did wash a few pieces so they're kinda sparky now and so i feel a wee better.
I really hope the real McCoys turn up.

How heartbreaking to misplace your earring!! I hope you find it soon!
I also wonder about all these differences of CZs. I only have CZ studs, but mine were pretty cheap. I would like to get diamonds someday, but I hesitate because I am afraid I would lose them! I have a horrible habit of misplacing my jewelry, so I tend to not spend too much money on anything.

There are, but for now, I would get a pair of Diamonique from QVC since you can probably get them in your hands in time. But it looks like they only have the 100 facet ones.

You can see if WinkCZ can get a pair ready...winkcz.com Contact them and tell them you need a pair of studs by next week, probably Royal or Imperial White, about 1ctw, and see what that will run you.

These are already made, he can make them Royal or Imperial White for like 10 buck more or something.

I have 1 Ct total weight moissanite earrings and I think they look like diamonds. This was the best I could photograph them. The top two are diamonds and the third pair are my moissanite earrings. I hope you find them and don't have to replace them.

If you just need an inexpensive substitute until you find your real diamond earrings, you can find decent, believable cz earrings at Macys, JC Penney, Kohl's, or even WalMart. No one will be able to tell unless you call attention to your ears.

I agree that this mostly depends on what you need them for. If you would wear them for the occasion and then intend to find your real ones and never wear them again, then I wouldn't put out the money for quality CZ or moissanite. A relatively inexpensive department store pair would do the job for the occasion. If you are looking for something to replace your diamond studs longer term, or you want them to last a longer time (for whatever reason), then I would go with moissanite or Asha or other higher quality CZ set in real platinum or gold.

thank you so much for chiming in with your suggestions and Susan45 for the photos! Mine are exactly like your diamonds set in white gold.
They're still lost :(( and I'm starting to think they're gone forever. I'm not sure how much I should spend, but I'm going out tomorrow to the mall to see if I find anything.

I DID!
I forgot about this thread with all wedding and all! But yes, they turned up at the corner of the wardrobe. I'm very relieved.
I did go to the mall though and tried some very lovely "high quality CZ" (i think that was the term used). Honestly, some seemed sparkier than diamonds but then again there was a lot of bright lights too.
