I have made purchases at several Hermes stores while traveling and rarely bother to look at my receipts after purchases. I just decided to store them all together in one of the smaller H boxes and noticed that my customer account numbers are different. There are two different numbers assigned to my name, both almost exactly the same, except for the last digit. Was wondering if anyone else encounter this? Does this mean that I have two separate H accounts?

Yes, it means that you have two different profiles. It's no biggie. I have four different numbers. lol.

Does it matter that I also have two different profiles in the system? I assume they will notice for items like a Kelly, where there is that limit on how many you can purchase within the year? Not that I'm planning to buy three Kellys this year or anything :p

Hmm, I've never been asked for my customer number when purchasing. They've only entered my name and confirmed the address.

I think if you have two different accounts with the same address, I'm sure they can figure it's really the same customer. And, your SA will know it's you regardless of how many accounts are in the system.

And I think the passport question is if you are also going to receive a tax refund, they need to tie the purchase to your passport, as all that information is transferred electronically to the VAT refund company. Since a citizen of that country (or in europe, a EU resident) isn't eligible for a VAT refund, their passport isn't tied to the purchase.

At FSH, they ask to see your passport after queuing, probably bc they want to enquire into your purchase history. I never had to queue when I went so I've never been asked to immediately present My passport, only when I purchased something and asked for a tax refund.

Yes , I'm an EU Passport holder and when asking for my first B I wasn't asked for my passport but I was asked for my name and first line of address ( I didn't have a purchase history then ) successful for a B . On return ( just after 6 months and with a small spending history 9000€ approx ) when I asked for a B , even though I told them I am an EU member and can't reclaim for tax , they still asked for my passport not successful for a B.......

Hermes Paris boutiques do not ask for the passport details to electronically transmit a customer's passport information to the tax refund company Global Blue.

Some people have a Global Blue card which has all their information and stores can swipe the card so the customer doesn't have to manually fill in all the VAT refund forms. But again boutiques do NOT send the info electronically to Global Blue.

The Hermes Paris boutiques do NOT always ask for passports before a transaction. Sometimes they do, sometimes they do not (even for new/first time buyers.)

Thanks Leah, yes, I just made purchases today (not at Hermes) and asked for a vat refund, my passport info wasn't included in the transfer. However, the store asked to see my passport. Yet at another store, they didn't ask to see.

In the past at FSH, I was asked for my passport when purchasing, just not upon entering the store (things may have changed, it has been some time since I've been to FSH). Others have had different and more recent experiences, as you probably have and Yasram.

When I was FSH this month after I asked for what I wanted my SA came back and asked for my passport before showing me anything.
