Home & Garden Curtains vs Roman Blinds

I have a smallish window in my bedroom and I am wanting to update them. I currently have a roman blind. I can't decide whether to get another roman blind or a pair of black out curtains.

Any recommendations?

I think smaller windows look betterh without curtains. I know you can get blackout blinds with different color fronts from JC Penny and Ebay sellers usually have the same ones on sale for cheaper prices. I have cordless blackout blinds in a light tan and also white in a few of my rooms. You can always do a valance over it or even a simple lace curtain to bring in light. If you like the look of curtains Pottery Barn sells blackout curtains in some pretty prints. Another thought is large plantation shutters. They do block the light very well. I got mine from Home Depot and love the look.

I ended up making my own shutters for most of my windows - more privacy and cleaner with a pet.

Wow, you made your own shutters! I'm just not that handy. I just finished painting and I don't think I EVER want to do another home project.
