It's 2017, what are your thoughts on this clam shell-esque classic design by Louis Vuitton? This bag was huge in the 90s and stands strong as a really great structured canvas hand held bag.

Luv it. I think the shape totally fits in to today's styles. Seeing lots of handheld bags. Similar shape to the hatbox bags that are trending now. Everything seems to come back in style if you keep it long enough.

That is so true. I am all about structured bags so the Ellipse appeals to me. It's a shame this classic design was discontinued.

Same here, this was also my first bag 20 years ago. I have the gm and the tiny clutch version. Every time I use them I still get compliments. I definitely think it's still a relevant design.

the first time i saw this bag, in the 90s, Madonna was carrying it on a red carpet. i loved it then but could not afford. after a time i was able to finally buy one. i think this one was either already gone by then or it was so popular and knocked off, I didn't get it. I would totally work this bag into my rotation. i love it.

Agree 100% with this. Its structured, slightly rounded shape is completely on trend. Also, I think that, in general, vintage LV styles are having a moment right now. I would go for it (assuming it's a good price and comes with the strap).
