Well, I am sure that I should probably not write this because it may fan many diamond fires here, and I've been away from these boards for quite a while but recently my Husband and I chose to sell a property in the Middle East (which is equivalent to what most people would call an "Estate" in the West) to someone who I will not name but will initial as S.A.b.A. During the preliminary visits, looks, stares, and oohhh la la's from the buyer's purchasing agent and lawyer(s) (and several other attache involved) we were told that the transaction could be finalized in a transfer of funds to any location.
Husband opted to wait on this option, and we waited a few weeks. Then the Middleman or Purchasing Agent or whatever you may want to imagine he is since we ourselves do not meet him gave us an offer to sweeten the sale with the addition of a diamond.
My senses picked this up and I think I was so excited at just the thought, but it is a blue diamond in the double digit carats (could be .9 or 9. for you readers). We asked for it to be confirmed by one of the premiere jewelers of our country and it has been evaluated by them. However, it tingles me to even think about it. Of course, Dear Husband does not do business with any stone, let alone blue ones, but I did think about it more than once at nights dreaming about what color it could be and whether it was as intense or vivid as others in history have been? So, I have been trying to come up with a way to understand what exactly it would mean since I've never really seen a transaction for the sale of a home done with the addition of a stone (it seems rather silly to DH and he won't even hear it haha).
Would anyone here think this story is a little strange? I did wonder if it could be fake, but I don't believe a great Jeweler and a well known buyer would pull a heist like this. It's just not possible, but still, if it is the real thing. The REAL thing...I thought it would be a fantasy of mine to share with you all.
This is a true story, by the way. I'm not sure what mine or what history this stone has, as it is so precious and definitely one of those rarities you read about. We were told that S.A.b.A has many more, in other colors.
I haven't really attempted to ask DH to let me at least see it. I think he'd really laugh at me, but still, I figure that since it WAS initially offered, we could pretend we'd like to see it and I would try and describe it or at least take a picture?
Anyhow. This was a story to spur some fantasies. I thought it was crazy of me to share this, but I think all you ladies and gents here reading this might like the thrill of it.
Last year a blue one even less in carats (but obviously still a superior stone) went for around $30 million?
