I should have asked this BEFORE we sent out our stone to be mounted, but I' m still curious. How much are platinum heads? Our stone was too big for the traditional settings so they said they would have to put on a new mount- what should have the price been for a plain 6 prong?

did you buyt the stone from them?

If so, free IMO. I've never paid for a basic setting before if I purchased teh stone as well. . . . just ask :D

If not, shouldn't be more than $600 I'd guess. I know some designers charge more like $1200, but that's a branded designer price.

I agree, basic stuller, ingwer, etc., heads run usually $300-$750, it depends on how much metal there is. Its usually sold by gram weight.

I am getting a new setting that should be done sometime this week maybe, and I think the head part was maybe $400. Though my stone is just under a carat and that's got to have something to do with the price.

Thanks girls- i didn't buy the stone from the setter. Whiteflash said it would be $375 over the price of the setting- the placed we ended up going with, Signed pieces, charged $300. It's not a huge price, but we were just curious. I wonder if most of it is for the platinum in the mounting or for labor?

The people on pricescope are why I was duped and why it was so hard to get it worked out. Ever notice why there are VERY few or NO negatives on that board about them? It's not because there aren't any.

Somehow people who had never met me and had barely chatted with me in any capacity on or off that forum knew intimate details of my situation. And I did not share that information with them or anyone who would tell them.

It took several tries for me to realize that WF simply makes a shoddy product and they don't take responsibility for it or their errors. Their diamonds are great, their metalwork is HORRENDOUSLY BAD. They RUINED the sentiment behind a wedding ring for me.

That's all I can legally say.
