Hello LC friends! Just wanted to get your take on the cuir being replaced by xtra? I was holding out and going to get the charcoal Le pliage cuir xs crossbody as it’s such a great size, but then when I popped into the store over the weekend cuir was all gone :crybaby:Apparently xtra is more structured (slightly) and it’s calf leather not Métis leather like cuir. It also have the adjustable strap now BUT the price has changed dramatically.

What does everyone think? Any thoughts or comments? Personally I liked the cuir range and the price was reasonable too. Not the xtra is almost double. Very big jump in price difference too. Hmmmm….

Also does anyone have the energy crossbody and how are you enjoying it?

Saw the xtra in person. Ohhhh myyyyy…it’s soooo stiff and boxy now. there was no more of the slouch that I loved on the cuirs. Now the small size is waaay too big for my petite self. Makes the bag look really boxy, and not in a good way.
BUT…having said that, I thought this new leather looked better on the xs…gives it the structure that the mini needs to keep its shape. So if they release a color I really like…in xs…who knows…

So has anyone purchased this (larger than the XS)? Does anyone have hope that the leather will eventually soften and become slouchy? I have a black version (XS) and love it but wonder about other’s comment’s on its boxy structure. I have been eyeing the small in the black but not sure I want to take the plunge.

Not sure that I should comment because I don't own any items from the Xtra line and haven't seen it in person yet...but, given that it's cowhide (cuir de vachette) and not calfskin (which can be almost as supple as lamb or goat), it probably won't ever become slouchy.

Generally, cowhide is relatively thick and specifically chosen for the fact that it holds its shape, which is pretty much the opposite of slouch.

Thank you. That’s really good insight. I’ve been buying older cuir Métis LP in small on the second market when I can find them. I’d be ok with the extra small size in the cowhide because I want it to hold its shape.

Thanks to @SmokieDragon it turned out that I had cowhide bags from LC and although both bags are no longer with me, they did not ever slouch when I had them. They are not rigid per se but they stood upright even when unstuffed. I notice one creased easily too; when I did not stuff it full.

So, I was intent to get the vanity bag in navy but something is holding me back. It could be my phone not lying flat against the back of the bag. It's a small thing as the bag otherwise fits all of my essentials but since I'm not 100% sure, I'm going to just put this one on the back burner.

I did get the phone pouch though, in navy. After trying out the Epure, Roseau and Xtra, this one fits my phone, neo key holder and foulonne compact wallet the best, with room to spare. I thought this phone pouch will be useful enough to run errands round the neighbourhood and also to use in conjunction with a backpack. I like the 'contrast' stitching, still blue but in a different tone. Will share how it wears after using it for a bit.

It’s a beautiful color and I really like your idea of using it in conjunction with a backpack (a Longchamp backpack? : )

I’ve been eyeing these on the website. Is the strap long enough for crossbody? I had a different LC phone case and had to give it to my tween daughter, bc it was too short for me to wear crossbody. This one looks really nice.

This one is really nice. I compared this with the Epure and Roseau. The epure is Russian leather so it does take a bit of effort for me to close the clasp (after my phone is in). Russian leather is stiffer so it will take a longer time to soften. The Roseau version is softer than the Epure but the bamboo clasp is weighty plus it is open top in a way so if you intend to slip in small things like a lip balm, it will fall out.

For this LP Xtra, I can wear it comfortably crossbody and it hangs against my waist. I like it that way as anything lower will mean constant flapping against my hip. I'll follow up with mod pics later.
