In anticipation of my purchase I was searching the internet regarding the chain around maxi and found a YouTube video where someone spoke about the two bags. She stated the normal maxi is heavier and so she sold it but loves the chain around maxi. Below is the link. If it does not work I am sure you can google and find it. AnibusJJ is her name. I have the mini from last production ($2,200) and it only fits IPhone, lip gloss, mini hand sanitizer, maybe something else flat like a powder compact or mirror and cc's I put in back zip pocket inside. Looks perfect cross body-Ashley Olsen's looks like mini size too but as you can see is very long on shoulder. I am praying I can get my claws in the maxi size this time too!!!!!! I'm about to fly with 6mo. old and 8 year old and this would be perfect.

However, I do not think it will be that hard to get right now because they are just coming in and lots of stores have ordered. Sounds perfect for you since you are a mom. I love it but I am nervous it will be too big or heavy but have always admired the regular maxi.
I have both the Chain Around Maxi (CAM) and the classic Maxi and love them both!!! The CAM fits more than the Maxi, when out with my son It can fit an old ipad, play doh, wipes, spare tshirt plus my wallet, makeup, sunglasses and a few little things such as keys, mints etc. I tend to
Carry large bags and I can say the weight is fine. If you are not used to big bags maybe you can consider it a little heavy, but for big bag users is more than fine. The magnetic closure works fine but you have to be patient and take the time to adjust it, obviously is easier the clasp in the maxi. Something the CAM doesn't have that I love in the maxi is the back pocket. Also, the CAM can't be used crossbody but the maxi can. Overall, I think the CAM is a great bag in terms of look (I get a million compliments even more than maxi), fits a lot, is carefree and for a large bag is not that heavy. I recommend the CAM!!! I love my maxi also and if I could only have one I would choose the maxi because it can be worn to more formal affairs and is a classic but if you can splurge and want an everyday bag then a CAM is a great option.

Yes regular maxi will probably be quite heavy especially once items are in it. I know my jumbos can get heavy-but that doesn't stop me-ha ha! May change as my little man gets older though... Last I heard was still $3800. Haven't heard if it's a little higher due to price increase but this line may not be included.
