I have never bought YG jewellery.... but lately, one or two pieces in YG have caught my eye. Now, I am thinking of building up a YG jewellery collection, but the practical side of me would say stick to WG so everything matches and it would be so much easier.

Anyone in the same situation? What made you do a crossover, and how do you decide what items to buy in YG or WG if you have a significant collection of each? Do you think individual pieces of jewellery can look nicer in one shade of gold but not the other?

Personally I think there is nothing wrong with Yellow Gold.....

The old thinking was that white gold looked too much like silver.....

Anyhow..... it is great is mix white and yellow gold pieces.... this can be done in a number of ways....

1) wear a 2 tone watch - I am seriously considering a 2 tone cartier santos for this very reason!
2) wear a 2 tone braclet - i have a lovely 9k white and yellow gold braclet i wear.... this allows for me to wear white and yello gold rings!
3) sometimes I go all white gold..... this can be complemented with a nice steel watch! like an omega constellation or rolex datejust.

hope this helps

I'm in the midst of crossing over in the opposite direction - going from yellow gold to platinum. I bought the Cartier Santos Galbee 2 tone watch to help integrate both yellow gold and platinum so that I can wear both at one time. My wedding set is platinum, so I was finding it hard to wear some of my yellow gold with it. The watch pulls it together so I can wear both together.

I love yellow gold. I'm Indian so most of my jewelry is 22kt gold and the color of the gold is much more richer so I lean towards yellow gold. It looks really good on darker skin tones too. But I agree with the two-tone watch.

Then again you don't have to match everything all the time. My e-ring and wedding band is white gold (because no matter what, diamonds always look best in white gold/platinum) and I'll wear yellow gold earrings. It's not that big of deal.

Wear what you like! I don't wear my YG rings anymore (thinking of selling some for the gold though), but I do have some YG necklaces that I wear sometimes. I just combine them with my stainless watch and my WG wedding rings.

I own mostly white gold, but after getting an 18k yellow gold David Yurman ring, it was so gorgeous, I wanted to get more yellow gold pieces to wear with it.

I bought a yellow gold-tone watch to wear with it, but it's easiest to wear with two-tone stuff.

The old thinking was that white gold looked too much like silver.....

Yep! That is exactly why I chose my YG engagement ring setting -- I didn't want anyone thinking it was silver! Now I wear both YG and WG. DH bought me a half-eternity band (11-ten point diamonds) and I wear that whenever I want to wear WG. I enjoy going back and forth between the two. Definitely consider getting some YG pieces!

I happily mix and max yellow/white/silver/platinum. I wear what I feel!
That said, yellow gold is my favorite. When I think about ancient civilizations battling it out for gold, I'm envisioning yellow gold. :)

i always mix! i have a braided tri-gold bracelet, but it's really delicate and it kind of ties my pieces together. my watch is a yellow gold gucci and i nrmally wear one yellow gold and two white gold rings... i think its fine to mix!!
