Crosby vs Swagger?

I am really jonesing for a new black bag with gold hardware. I've narrowed down my choices to either the Crosby Carryall or the Swagger. For reference, I want something similar to my Riley Carryall in size and function. This is my Riley for comparison:

Those that have them or have opinions on them, what are the pro's or con's?

In regards to the Crosby, is the smooth leather or the crossgrain better?

I, myself, keep looking at the Crosbys... Can't seem to take the plunge and buy one...
Since you have Riley... Crosby... is always open... never can zip shut just a snap..
I say go SWAGGER!!! Riley is more North/South and Swagger is East/West bag... plus zips shut!

But what do I know.. since I keep searching for the Ultimate bag!!!

I agree- go with Swagger! I just started carrying my ginger/black colorblock swagger, and I love it. The leather is very nice. I saw a Crosby last fall and felt the leather was a bit plastic-y. However, the color I saw wasn't black (maybe the black Crosby has better leather? I know Coach can fluctuate, so it's important to check out the bag you're eyeing in advance if you care about that sort of thing).

The crosby's in the crossgrain are a stiffer more structured type of design, the swagger in the pebbled is more flexible. The smoother leather of the Crosby is quite smooth, almost slippery to me but truly depends on what you like best from a tactile standpoint.

Can you go see these bags? i would recommend that, as the effect is quite different and really becomes about what you personally prefer. GL!

Thanks! :) That's my MOA goal today. See them all, and then decide. I think I'm leaning in the Swagger direction. I didn't realize the Crosby is always open. I like the idea of closing it when I need to. But, it's such a cool looking bag...

Decisions, decisions!

I'm headed to the mall today, so hopefully I can see them. Maybe if the Coach store doesn't have them, one of the department stores will. I like textured and smooth, but it depends on the structure of the bag. We'll see if I have a reveal post by the end of the day! :D

Thank you! Yes, black does have a way of making cheap look better, but I want to get a bag I'll get a few years use out of. I hope to see them today and make a decision. Who knows, I may go there and buy something totally different! I just wish there was a PCE or something right now!

The Swagger is the cooler bag. Hands down it's 'better' than the Crosby in black/gold. That's just my opinion.

However the Crosby in embossed croc in Grey Birch? Or embossed snakeskin in Chalk? Those are gorgeous bags.

In a black/gold presentation the Swagger wins. If I'm voting.

I really like the Swagger - both the style and the leather. The thing that makes me not a Crosby fan is that it would always be open. I like to be able to keep things more secure.

Did you go to MOA and see all the Coach?? Did you get a Crosby or Swagger or find something else??

I went but didn't go to Coach... too much temptation! I did go to Nordstrom Rack.. and Nordstrom... looking for a Non Coach bag... nothing...

I did! I ended up getting the black and gold swagger. It's beautiful! It was the only one they had. The SA said they can't keep them on the shelves. I saw the feather ring I got at the outlet is still in store, too.

I only ended up going to Coach and then the hermit crab kiosk for my kids. Then popped over to Ikea (which was a zoo).
