Croc-Embossed vs Smooth Leather

I'm eyeing a clutch.

Which leather is hardier?

Is croc-embossed good quality?

Is the smooth leather prone to scratches?

Advantages/disadvantages of both?

The croc-embossed comes with silver logo - I'm a silver hw girl.

The smooth comes with gold logo.

I have never had either.

croc; i had a smooth one and i sold it almost immediately - i was scared to even use it because i felt even just looking at it would give it scratches LOL

I own a Sac De Jour that comprises both the patent croc embossed and smooth leather.

There are 2 types of croc embossed leather for Saint Laurent, the matte version and the patent/shiny version. I am not too familiar with the matte version which is seen mainly on sdj, but the patent version (which appears on Kate also) can appear a bit plastic at times, depending on your preferences.

But as compared to the smooth leather, the croc embossed leather is definitely hardier and keeps it shape well (that’s why my sdj don’t have the ‘belly’ coming out from the sides and is still very rigid).

Both leathers are pretty good quality. The smooth leather is definitely more prone to scratches as compared to the croc embossed one.

Usually YSL does both gold and silver hardware for smooth leather, you will just have to wait and see.

If you want something rigid and keeps its shape, get the croc embossed one. The smooth leather goes out of shape and shows signs of usage pretty fast.
