Hi Everyone! I randomly starting thinking about the Coussin, even though it has been some time since it came out. Anyone have the MM? Are we still loving it? Any thoughts or opinions appreciated!

I like the style of the Coussin bags, I have several of the PMs, 1 MM and 1 Pochette. I’m 5’ 5” and have a small frame, and I find the MM looks large on me. At $3350 USD for the PM, I thought it was a fair price. But at $4,700 for the PM, it seems unlikely that I will be purchasing any additional Coussin bags. I think there are better bags for the money.

i LOVE my coussin PM! i have it in rose pink and i think it's SUCH a beautiful and functional bag! i did, however, purchase it at its very original price of $3,550 (or maybe it was $3500 even?) and i know FOR SURE i would not purchase it at the current price of $4,700. i love seeing this bag out in the wild and i have NEVER seen it look bag in any color or on any person. i see it on social media much more than i see it IRL but SO many people in my city are a little boring and carry boring, basic bags so i'm not surprised to not see that in the wild often!!

But I wonder on what basis LV made this price increase at a whopping 20%!! I mean most bags had around 10% +/- increase and SLG was about 10-20%… what did this bag do to deserve a 20% increase?

Are they going to pitch this like a capucines price tag and promote this to a classic like a Chanel 2.55 wannabe? I mean it’s pretty but not likely gonna win a Chanel 2.55 in term of popularity.

As the price increases, less people are willing or able to pay. It becomes more “unattainable “ and more “valuable” both adding to the allure of the bag. Why not jump on the Chanel bandwagon and piss people off? It costs them literally nothing to raise the price and their bottom line benefits.

But Chanel had a long time of pricing where people would say, “beautiful and expensive but still possible to attain” before it reaches the prices now, “beautiful, expensive and far more unattainable”. Coussin had a far shorter period of the former before people are saying, “thanks, but no thanks.”
I don’t know what gone into me to buy it last year before the first price hike. If I didn’t buy it then, I would never own one because it’s really too out of my range now.

I think LV’s canvas bags have become quite ubiquitous over the last few years (esp on social media)and LV execs realized that in order to maximize their profits and protect their brand value they needed to buffer the ubiquity of the canvas bags with their less affordable leather bags. I think the execs knew that the demand was not there for their leather bags as much as for the canvas so they strategically made the canvas bags less available, prioritized marketing certain leather bags like The capucines and the coussin. Once the bag became a “classic”( capucine) or an ”it bag” (coussin), they hiked up prices because they can and in a sense they need to...to stay relevant in this aggressively competitive luxury bag world.

Anyway, I get that these increases are upsetting, but I think they are driving me to the point that I just don’t care anymore. If the price is over $3k it better be damn perfect and with all the bags I’ve bought and sold, I can tell you that no one bag checks every single box. Its liberating to know that I no longer throw $4k or $5k at a bag and think I’m getting a good deal because a price increase is looming. Now, I want to sell those bags, because they are just not worth it. Talking about Chanel here...sorry went off topic
