I purchased my empreinte Emilie wallet a while back, in 2019 to be precise, but never used it. Just took it out every now and then to look at it. I recently looked at it and was shocked to see corrosion on the button! The only other time I have seen corrosion was immediately after I purchased an LV bag and inspected it under bought lights at home the same day, so therefore it was easy to bring it back for an exchange. I have never had this happen to me so far out from when I purchased an item I had never used. I'm wondering what my options are to remedy this? I could see if I had used the wallet then it would be wear and tear, but that's not the case. If I bring it in to the boutique will I be looked at crazily? Would I have to pay for a repair even though it's "new." Can I exchange it? Help please.PhotoGrid_1619144023734.jpgPhotoGrid_1619144068021.jpg

I just went and checked mine. I have the same one. I also bought it in 2019, and also have never used it. I remember mine came with a bunch of scratches on the button. I’m not sure why I didn’t exchange it at the time, but didn’t for whatever reason. Mine looks pretty similar as when I got it, but I did throw a little protective sticker on it at the time so maybe it helped.
Do you think the corrosion on yours is something Brasso could take care of? If you live near a boutique, it wouldn’t hurt to stop by and see what they say. 488E0E77-A135-47A7-9649-71FD252FAF55.jpeg

Thanks! That was wise of you to put that sticker on: I'm thinking it probably helped. Mine also had the scratches when it arrived, but I remember I didn't return it because it was sold out and I thought it wasn't a big deal. Looking back, I guess those scratches did make a difference. I will likely go to the boutique. I just wanted to post here first so i know if I am expecting too much, and to prepare myself.
Funny that our scenarios are so similar!

I hope they will fix it or replace it for you. Please share your experience afterwards. I‘m interested to know what they end up saying.

Fingers crossed! I checked and it's still within two years since purchase, which I thought I read somewhere is the length of the "warranty"? I am hoping to go next week. I will definitely update!

This happened with one of my wallets that I’d never used for nearly a decade as well! Not to worry I brought it to the store and the SA simply spent some time rubbing it with one of their brass cleaning cloths and it completely came off. It took a bit of elbow grease but it got the job done.

This makes me hopeful! Thank you!

So I decided to try my luck in-person since I couldo get ahold of a live person on the phone. The sales associate took it back to have their repair person look at it, and came back with the corrosion completely gone! She said the person used a solution to remove it, which they do not sell. I asked her why it happened and she said it happens with lack of use. She also clarified there's no such thing as a two-year warranteed time frame: sometimes there's a fee and sometimes not. Good to know! Happy now, and I better start using it!PhotoGrid_1620949771598.jpg

I‘m so glad it worked out! That’s a relief it came off. I wonder if it’s a brasso type product they used. I should probably start using mine too, since I still have never used it. I’ve been using mostly mini bags this past year. Thank you for the update!

You're welcome! I am iike you and have been using my minis as well. I think I will look into that Brasso product.

Hardware oxidizes over time whether used or not.
It's the first time I encountered this on any of my bags or SLGs.....I take that back: it happened to the padlock of my Speedy B but that was after use. Which is part of the reason I stopped purchasing LV. Haven't had this issue with any of my other items from other fashion houses.
