Convertion size chart shoes

I wear a 38 size shoes in french
when i look on some website the convertion size chart , one time they say 38 is a US 8 size and somethime they say 38 is US 7,5 and 8 is a 39 in french size ...
Please can someone help me ?

European 38 is 7,5 not 8.
european 39 in US is closer to 8,5 than 8.

I think it really depends on the brand of shoes. I'm a US 8 or 8.5 and I wear size 38 or 38.5 or sometimes even a 39 in European sizes, depending on the brand. Some brands seem to run smaller than others.
