Constance - is the "H" too big for you? Also - is it easy to use

Just like I posted. I was wondering if to change it up but I'm not sure if it's easy to use and how much stuff I can pack. Also the "H" on the bag seems a bit problematic because it's literally huge. What's your take? (Thank you for all your previous advice.)

That’s exactly what I am asking myself again and again about the H! When Hermes was not that much of social media thing I did not care at all and got a C24 vache naturel with PHW, which carries my essentials (wallets, phone, keys, a foldable shopping bag, or some cosmetics quite nicely and even fits a mini umbrella or silk scarf on top.) carried it for a few years under the radar, now people notice - because of the H I think.

Personally I like the classic, structured shape with round edges in combination with the large H, I do not so much like the attention on it. But it is a great bag that I take out again and again for casual looks due to size and leather and if I want to carry a crossbody.

I just got a C18 myself - thought the H would be too big but it's actually fine, especially after you've used it for a while and the H isn't so shiny (might be a con for some). Super easy to use and love that you can wear it crossbody or double up the straps for a more evening/tailored look. Highly recommend!

It’s a personal preference. I can and do wear loud, in your face RTW, but the H clasp, and for that matter, the chanel CC, are hard for me to incorporate into an entire look. (I do wear BK and reissues). I do like H and the CC on other people . I love @Bdbunny ’s pink plaid one with her white dress :)

I barely wear my C18s out anymore for the same reason. I don't like it when people recognize my bags and do not like the attention it attracts. Also, both my C18s are with shiny hardware so that's even worse. I feel like the new brushed hardware would tone it down a little bit. I usually wear most of my H bags facing inward to avoid this. Either that, or I'd opt for my Bolide or Clic 16 bag. In hindsight, I shouldn't have bought two C18s, but at the time(when the prices were at the highest:crybaby:), I liked them a lot. (that completely changed in a one-year time period) I do not have any other items with the H, and do not plan on getting any. I don't do Orans (or any footwear with the H), blankets, pillows, RTW, home goods, or costume jewelry. I find them to be tacky.

The h doesn’t bother me so much but the bag is a pain to use. The clasp doesn’t open easily so it gets scratched all the time. Epsom also makes it a fussy bag in my experience - Creases can form along the top and back and front of bag if you consistently use the bag. My guess is it’s bc the flap is a continuous piece of leather.

To answer your first question - yes. This is why I love my mosaique bag. Same concept as the Constance but more under the radar.

I can't answer your second question as to ease of use as I do not foresee myself ever getting a Constance.

Agree with @880, it is a personal choice. With any bag one carries with a recognizable
detail wear it with confidence as it is eye catching & the H does stand out.
One of the reasons I like the Lindy is because it is under the radar, (JMO) but again it really comes down
to a comfort zone & how the bag works in one's lifestyle.

I don’t mind the H, and most people I’m around have no idea what it means. The people who do rarely comment other than nice bag. I do find it easy to use, and it’s my most used H bag because of that. It fits all my essentials with no issue.

I have two Constance 24s — one in violet ostrich and the other in lime evercolor leather. And a Constance slim wallet in evercolor vert vertigo. I couldn’t love them more. And I hope to get one or two more C24s over time. The H clasp is such a key part of the bag in my opinion. It is one of the elements of the complex craftsmanship of the bag that makes it utterly iconic. For me, the bag is easy to use and carry (double strapped on the shoulder, in hand or on forearm, single strapped on the shoulder or crossbody) — and because I keep my nails short, the opening/closing of the bag is easy. I find my beloved Kelly 28 and Kelly 35 harder to close because of the size/weight of the bags when there’s stuff in it. For my Kelly 35, I have to lift my leg to create a “table” on which to rest the bag in order to close it. Or use both hands to pull the flap over the clasp (still adore those Kellys) and close. Nevertheless, I accept the idiosyncrasies of all of these bags. That’s what makes them special and a pleasure to use. ♥️

Most Hermes bags get noticed period. Birkin and Kelly bags don’t scream Hermes but they SCREAM Hermes because of all the social media and whatnot around the brand. The H has nothing to do with it. The Constance has a great heritage and is a very functional bag, H aside.
I agree with cravin and GiGi.

I have not yet acquired a Constance, but I do have it on my wishlist 😎. I think the bag is a nicely understated and timeless bag, despite the H clasp.

To answer the OP's first question in the title: I am not sure why so many people "care" about what others think about the H, or if it attacts attention. IMO, who cares if someone is looking at my bag, lol. I'm wearing it because I admire the quality or it brings me joy--not in hopes that someone will or won't be attracted to it.

Like others have mentioned, it is recognizable. But so is the Birkin or Kelly or Evelyne or Lady Dior or even the LV Speedy. Is there going to be a flock of paparazzi snapping photos of you? No. Isn't that the sheer nature of the premier fashion Houses...to be inconic? I chalk it up to one of those IYKYK things.

To answer the second question: although I don't own a C, I have handled them and tried them on. I think the H clasp is a lot more straightforward & easy to open than the BK turnlock/sangle debacle...lol. It will probably get a lot of wear, but luckily H spa can replace it fairly inexpensively.
