**update: bag is NOT fake **

Ladies and gents,

I have been duped!!! Too bad I just found out now after 2 years. I had bought a Chanel patent medallion tote from a fellow TPFer on Ebay. I had it authenticated here, and when I attempted to consign it this year I was told that it was a fake bag! I'm so sad, and I've contacted the person via ebay and TPF. No response! Is there a way I could recoup the money? I just want to throw that bag against the wall. I'm so upset. All that money down the drain!

Please advise.

The place you want to consign it says it's fake? It's very possible they're wrong.
Post current pics here and see if the right bag was shipped to you.

I had sent the bag off for consignment. It's with ******, so I know that they're reputable. Attached are the pictures.

Since it was authenticated here, chances are highest that you have an authentic bag.
However, determining its authenticity after you received it should have taken place within a reasonable time frame--2 years down the road is not reasonable to raise the idea of a claim against the seller.

Buying on eBay does not come with a pass entitling a buyer to go back to a seller forever. It really doesn't, and sometimes you find you bought badly and that is that.

I hope that your bag is fine and the assessment is incorrect.

It was completely my fault for not following through and getting it authenticated at a Chanel store when I received it two years ago. I took the lady's word for it. I trusted that she was trustworthy, since she too is a TPF member. I had it authenticated here on TPF, and it was deemed authentic. I never thought in a million years I would have this problem. In fact, I walked around with this bag so proudly thinking it was authentic. Lo and behold, when I needed to sell the bag to assist a family member's financial troubles, I was told that it was not authentic.

Yes, you are right. The onus was on me to ensure that it indeed it was. Given that I purchased it on ebay, there's always a possibility that the item is fake. However, given the success of the buyers and sellers here on TPF, I presumed that I would be safe as well.

Thank you for chiding me. It is heard loud and clear but not truly appreciated. It's like rubbing salt on open wounds.

I noticed that there's some gluelike substance inside the outside back pocket of this medallion tote. I know, reading from this forum, that it is a big no no with Chanel. Is it possible that they might have used glue previously?
