consignment shops for sell/trade

Anyone have experiences with these shops? I'm ebaying some items, but if they don't sell, would consignment places be good for me to sell or trade my items?

I live in LA and the only one I know of is Buffalo exchange. They said they'd give me 35% of what they'll sell it for in cash or 50% store credit. Sound good to anyone?

I don't want to get ripped off, but I do want the money or trade for different item.
