Hi everyone!! Please let me know if I should post this elsewhere. I have amassed enough credit on TRR for this one vintage Chanel bag I've fallen in love with. I KNOW all too well about their...ahem...inept authentication and from sleuthing around here, I know to get it authenticated by a third party such as Zeko's. I guess I'm posting here to get some community input on whether its worth the risk of $2K in TRR credit which I'd otherwise use on a Celine. I'd also love to hear other people's advice/tips/tricks for spotting fakes (feel free to DM because I know we don't necessarily want that kind of info out there for counterfeiters to find) and if there are specific Chanel styles that are more likely to be counterfeited than others

Thank you!! And also just a general thank you to this community for providing so much information to Chanel newbies such as myself. If I ruled the world, I would start a Consumer Protection Bureau for Chanel!

I honestly had a great experience with the RealReal. They transferred a Chanel bag across the country for me so I could see it in person before I bought AND preapproved a return in case I preferred to order it online and didn’t love it. I got my bag authenticated independently after I purchased but if it turned out to be a fake I am certain they would have refunded me. There are definitely some horror stories about them out there but I think those are far less frequent than satisfied customers with authentic bags.

this is SO helpful, thank you!!! I definitely think there is an exposure bias issue where we only hear about cases where something goes wrong, but never really hear about stories like yours where they are lovely and competent.

I both buy and consign a lot with TRR. I always get my bags authenticated privately upon receipt. They have all been authentic, and I feel that I got some incredibly great deals. One time an order was not quite as described. They offered to accept the bag back even though it was final sale (I wound up keeping it anyway).
really helpful. thank you!

Wow this is good to know! I’m eyeing a bag on the site but I would love to see it in person first. I’m going to call them and see if they can send it to a local store near me. Thanks for the tip!

So I was in Chicago and stopped by the real real store. I fell in love with The business affinity backpack, but it was very worn and had foundation marks on the inside and look dirty. I was shocked I mean gasped…it was priced at $5,000.
New it’s $4800. Wtf? I don’t understand the pricing. Also, Do they not clean the bags before putting them out? I don’t understand why a used, especially heavily used bag will cost more than a new one.

that's super disappointing. i think they are understaffed maybe??

I have shopped online at The Real Real a bit. It really is a crap shoot. Sometimes the items arrive better than described. Other times worse. Same goes for cleanliness of interior. The pricing varies a lot, too, on the site—as I don’t believe there are unique listers for each brand. Ie) some might list a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals at $275, while another realreal lister might list an identical pair for $125.

There was lots of workers around, they were great. Very helpful and explained the real real. I didn’t ask them why it was so expensive because having worked retail they have nothing to do with the pricing. It was real legit, The bag should’ve been more like 3400 cleaned

Do they lower the price every 30 days like fashionphile?
