I have been wanting to buy large diamond hoops for a while. Not large diamonds necessarily but bigger sized hoops (I currently have hoops that are barely larger than buggies).

I found a beautiful pair of Roberto Coin hoops bit I'm so confused! I feel like I'd be paying for the brand vs paying for what I'm actually getting. Although, on the other hand, I like the reassurance that they would be good stones.

Ideally I would love to go to a jeweler and have the hoops made, but then i just don't know/understand enough about diamonds to be confident I'd get as nice a product as the RCs.

Help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I do not know much about the quality of diamonds though I love it. The earrings is nice though I am afraid the lock may not be that secured.

I have 4 pairs of diamond hoops from 3 tcw Quad huggies to 2" (gypsy) hoops. A 1.25" WG and a 1.25" YG pair. My YG pair look like the RC hoops you posted but 2.50 tcw. Same hinged back...they are very secure, you can hear the click.
The RC hoops are a nice size...little over 1" long. GH/SI are good enough for diamond quality. All mine are this quality and they face up white and sparkle. It doesn't show the price but I'm sure you're paying for the name. I have a couple RC necklaces and they are nicely made.
This is a common type of hoop...I would check around and see what you can find with the same stats. GH/SI 1.1-1.25" (great size).
Keep us posted.........................

Thank you!! I will look around and ask about the stats you listed! These are $8900.

What about buying a couple of parcels of diamonds yourself? Would you be open to that? It's easy to find reputable dealers online and then you can get exactly the four Cs you're after and pay no more than what they're worth. Then have a jeweller create the earrings. They'll be worth more to you because you created them yourself, and you'll get way more for your money.

I'd also suggest this option as I'm a person who finds it difficult to buy "off the shelf" products that anyone can buy just at any old time. It de-valuates stuff in my eyes.

Interesting idea...never thought of doing that. Will look into it! Thank you!

That is very expensive. I have a pair of hoops that look just like those...about the same size including the stones. They were made by a jeweler I worked for on a very part-time basis (and very occasionally as well), and I paid less than $3000 for mine. I'm sure you could find something lovely for much less...unless, of course, you want that designer's earring specifically.

Hi phillj12!!! Gorgeous hoops!!! I just went back and checked my old thread, I have 3.75 unbranded hoops with similar stats but 14k white gold. I think were a little less than half the cost of the Roberto Coin earrings.

Omg, really?!!! Oy! I need to do some serious research! Do you have any photos of yours?

I remember those, Etk...gorgeous! As I said before, Phillj12 should be able to get a great pair for no more then 5K.

I am posting a pair of YG and WG inside/outside hoops.
The YG are 3.24 tcw but 14kt gold. GH/SI1 prong setting, about $3200. Same "click" back/post as the RC you like.
The WG hoops I had custom made, 3 tcw/18kt. Prong setting but not much metal. They also have a slight twist. E/VS1 and the diamonds are very white and sparkly. The money is really in the quality of the diamonds and it shows. $5K
Both are about 1.25" in size...................

Those are both GORGEOUS!!!

What kind of setting is on the second photo? That is so pretty!

I don't know what you'd call the setting. All the metal is between the stones...nothing at the sides. A lot of light saturation for sparkle. I saw a pair like this in a magazine and had the jeweler copy it. I told him the diamond stats I wanted...very easy!
