Here is something I just stumbled across. Interesting info. I agree...I travel & Juicy seems to be strong in Europe, but not the US. I think the merger with Kohls will destroy what is left of their image here. They need to modernize their luxury image! And give us some good charms (since that is the only thing that still has a following).

Juicy Couture Set to Make Comeback Despite Closing All U.S. Stores

Is
Juicy Couture no more? All sorts of stories have been swirling ever since the brand changed ownership and announced the closing of all U.S. stores.
The label, widely known for
velour tracksuits made highly popular during the early to mid-2000s, was recently sold from Fifth and Pacific Companies now
Kate Spade & Co. to Authentic Brands in September 2013 for $195 million. Several high-end department stores, including
Neiman Marcus and
Saks Fifth Avenue, have also stopped selling the brand.
The reason behind the downfall of one of fashions most sought-after labels once especially popular among teens and twenty-somethings, including celebrities and celebutantes like
Paris Hilton (who is actually now in her 30s) is due to the brands inability to change and morph with the times.
Although I agree that tracksuits are not popular like they once were and that they have been replaced largely by leggings and yoga pants, I have to say that I have loved the label for other items, including coats, blazers, sweater dresses, handbags and more. I do own one
Juicy tracksuit, but the pants do not display the signature JUICY name in rhinestones on the butt. My Juicy sweater dress and blazer are two of my favorite wardrobe items; they are classics that I wear every year and never grow tired of. Maybe Juicy should have focused more on these types of items and less on the outdated tracksuits.
The brand recently had announced a plan for a Juicy product line to be sold at monster retailer
Kohls, yet this decision may have taken away some of the luxurious appeal the label was known for, hence another factor contributing to the downfall.
However, we may not have seen the last of Juicy and those cute, dangly hearts. Plans are in the works to open two new concept stores in Asia, Europe and the Middle East that will feature intimate apparel/sleepwear and young girls clothing.
The other plan is for the U.S. opening of
World of Juicy boutiques, which will have a department store-like feel to them, with a product line that will include handbags, accessories and footwear, a model similar to
Gucci or Louis Vuitton. So far, the plan is for these stores to open in New York and Los Angeles. The new revived line will be divided into two tiers: the premium black label that will even include high-end tech accessories, as well as a new line of Steve Madden-designed shoes and the mid-level pink label items, which will be sold at Kohls next fall.
There seems to be a positive outlook for the new Juicy revival overseas, but sources do not seem as confident about the labels future in the U.S.
However, if you still want to purchase a velour Juicy tracksuit or other Juicy items, you still can do so online from the official website. I have to say that I am glad I recently bought my little black Juicy nightgown at Bloomingdales when I did.
