Hi everyone. I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. First, with Louis Vuitton I felt like if I had certain bags they would complete my collection and I would be handbag content. However, after I completed my collection I got board and sold all my Louis Vuitton bags. Then I began working on completing my chanel collection and now that I have, I suddenly feel like I may be loosing interest again. Does this happen to any of you, once you complete your "collection" you sort of no longer appreciate it? Any advice on how to avoid this sudden "over it" experience?

I sold a lot of my bags lately because they are redundant or didn't fit with my lifestyle. I consider it part of the journey as a handbag owner, so don't feel bad about it.

Make sure you buy bags because you need them or will use them, not because they will complete your collection or everyone else has it.

Thank you. I do use them, I just seem to lose interest quickly even though they are items I wanted so much. It's like I get a high from the journey and when I get there I am worn out.

That's what I learned...our collection could never be complete. If I buy according to what I think would be stylish, a good complement for the color, type of leather, and shapes over practical concerns, it never ends; something else would come by later, that would seem like a fine match. It's more important to buy what you're going to use, than what looks good as a whole collection. For example, I wear a lot of colors, plus some jewel tones every now and then, and my bags, on the other hand, tend to be neutral. If I add bags for the sake of adding some different hues, rather than what works with my wardrobe, then they'd just sit there. And if I don't use my bags regularly, any interest for them fades quickly.

I don't collect whole groups, so nothing to complete.
I do have several mulberry oxblood items--love the color--but only styles which work for my needs.

Like a small, functional & varied collection--replacing specific bags as needed/desired.
Lets me play with brands/options for each function--example: daily bag, travel bag, etc.
Collection evolves with me as I change, not to fill-in a checklist or spreadsheet. I don't resell or choose for future buyers' desires, only for mine.

When have suitable bags, can adventure with them. Not boring. Especially beside a goofy dog or with enough engine cylinders. :)

Hope this helps.

I just put different outfits together on the ipad. It's like playing a game called "what bag goes best with this outfit?" Or "which scarves make this bag look awesome?" Or "how many pairs of shoes look great with this bag?" I could go on and on. If I want to wear a bag, I design an outfit around it - one that makes the bag look great.

Today it is the cognac penny purse with the green ombre scarf and rose gold jewelry. :graucho:

I have 12 bags in my collection from LV, Chanel and Prada. I cycle my bags so each bag gets some use. When I get bored of one bag I move on to the next bag in my collection. I think it's natural to get bored of using the same bags which is why cycling your collection can work so well!

I definitely think there is a high from hunting the bag you want, buying, and enjoying the bag in the first few weeks. I think it's important to separate that experience and whether the bag is something you want in your collection for a while?

I have a friend who had a slightly different challenge, she collected a bit of everything for years only to find that really, she only loved her LVs. She got rid of most of everything non-LV and now she only buys LV. She knows what she loves, but that came with experience.

I think there is a problem in buying too many bags too quickly to make a 'collection'. It means that no 'relationship' grows between single bag and owner-wearer. I don't think most people should try to amass an entire collection, but rather add one a season, to an already used-working bag wardrobe, unless they really know themselves. My bags are my collection even though only 2 are Chloe, 1 MJ, 5 are H, 5 are Chanel, 5 are BV, lots of Gucci and a couple of this and that. I am a bit of this and a bit of that kinds gal and always have been, but what I own then becomes part of me.

Agreed on point 2 starbunny and I think I do similar to you but have 4 or 5 on the go day after day (prob because of different needs and my life is not very routine).

I have found that when this happens to me it was all about the 'acquisition', and not about the bag. It's like I need to buy something. And, once I buy ... I'm over it. So, I've learned to watch for this behavior.

Hello...OMG, you read my mind! For me the hunt is the "end all"! Now I'm stuck with a closet full of bags I don't want anymore!
