Comments on the Marketplace

Great idea.

I don't really see how having 5 posts or 500 makes one less likely to sell fake or damaged goods. There are plenty of fraudulent Ebay sellers with over 100 positive feedbacks. Some people think that they can get away with selling some fake or something "as new" that's been clearly used and they ruin things for everyone else.

I agree. Though a benchmark is important, it will never weed out people that have alterior motives. There are plenty of people on Ebay that have PERFECT feedback and hundreds of sales yet they still sell fakes!

I DEFINITELY miss checking out the goods on the MP! I am just so thankful that I got my two Speedies before they shut it down! I am sure Vlad and Megs are doing their best.

I can't tell you how many PMs I have gotten from other regular members who have had problems on the Marketplace with the new members (with 200 or less posts). I think there were a lot more problems than even you guys knew about.

I am quite sure Vlad and Megs knew a lot more than WE All knew about.

It is great that you are getting support from other members! I must say, I have met some great people here and some are dear friends of mine now!!

If you are getting a bunch of "PMS from other members that have had problems with the Marketplace... more than Vlad and Megs knew" why didn't these members also CC Vlad and Megs, since they are the ones that can ACTUALLY do something about it?

Are you implying I'm actually not getting PMs? They did not PM Vlad and Megs also because, if you haven't been following recent threads, Vlad and Megs have asked not to be dragged into people's messes... yet they still are, even over very minor issues. There is nothing they can or should do. These are private transactions.

You're awfully dense if you think my initial post in any way implied Vlad and Megs knew nothing. Obviously I too am "quite sure" Vlad and Megs knew a lot more than we did which is why Marketplace was shut down.

Sorry, I suppose my response was a little harsh. I toned it to match what I thought was a patronizing tone in iliabags post. However, plenty gets misinterpreted through the internet. My apologies! :flowers: :flowers:

You also have to realistic about things too. When you buy something at 85% of retail you are getting a good deal. I think even BRAND NEW bags might have a little slight microscopic imperfection. I am not directing this to anyone in particular just a comment. Fakes are another thing entirely  .

Oh agreed 100%, but multiple, obvious stains and items that need obvious repair, that sort of stuff should be disclosed. Besides I was just saying that sometimes "like new" really means used and abused.

No, I am not implying that you are lying. Not at all. I was saying that the people should have ALSO notified Megs and Vlad if they really wanted something done. Since they ultimately have the right to change things.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant no harm. I was saying that if there are concerns, they should always know. I know we don't like to "drag them into it" but if it is serious or bad, they ultimately SHOULD know.

I'm sure that's part of the issue on why the MP was shut down. How to ensure people are truthful.

I for one would like to see a form of it back. Perhaps classifieds for long term members (knowing that I don't qualify for that)?

Overall, it's V&M's call because we are guests in their "home". I'll be content in socialising with the lot o' you if the MP never comes back though. :flowers:
