Hi there,
I bought three pairs of black pants (the fabric is bengalin) and brought them in to tailor them.
I had to put them on and off a few times, also the shoes with which I would want to wear the pants, so the tailor could pin it.
After that, the pair of white sneakers had my dark fingerprints and some other dark spots on - fortunately I could remove them, but only with nail polish remover
Of course, I don't want to do this again, it might ruin the shoes.

So, how often do you think do I need to wash these pants to get out the extra color?
Is there anything else I could do?

Years ago I had dark denim washed inside out two or three times with cold water and a bit of vinegar. More recently with a color catcher sheet (like a dryer sheet) but formulated to retain color. There are also special detergents for color retention, but I have not used them. DH used to wear dark selvedge denim that had special care instructions. in More recently, I’ve dry cleaned his charcoal gray denim without subsequent color transfer issues.

To clean white sneakers, I used a bit of very diluted Dawn dish detergent on leather sneakers, but you could also ask your cobbler. I would not use nail polish remover bc it might take off the top layer of the material.

ETA: @Sferics , your dry cleaner may be able to advise specifically re Bengalin, not only if you get color transfer onto a white shirt, but also how to render the pants themselves color fast. For clothing like this, I am also very careful to hang them in the closet against similarly colorsafe dark colors or away from other clothes that could pick up transfer. I don’t recommend storing any clothes in plastic bc they need to breathe

I hope these were not your new Prada sneakers. DH likes beige suede sneakers (rolling eye emoticon here), but the proprietor of the store told him to spray them with tarrago nano spray

You bet!
This is why I was short before a heart attack.
They turned out well, as you said, this is not a very good idea. I tried it first with the leather inside the shoes - o lot was on the heel, and fortunately it is some rubber.
ETA: @Sferics...
Yes, I totally will ask the dry cleaner, good point!
I had these trousers before and never had that happen, so it could be after some washing, the problem goes away as I might just have not realized it before because I wore black shoes with the pants.

DH likes beige suede sneakers
Nothing more tricky :D

Unfortunately some fabrics bleed even after many washings.

It’s the main reason I never wear denim albeit I think I might give white denim a try this summer.

@880 has some great recommendations though! Good luck and hope they work out!
