Hello Coach friends, I fell in love with this bag when I saw it in the boutique- it is much more beautiful IRL than on-line. I love the color and the artwork. However, I am very nervous about the smooth leather. Two of the bags in store had surface scratches on the leather. Together with the strap, this bag was over $700 with tax so it makes me nervous to keep it if it is going to show wear badly. It is not 1941 and does not have the same high quality leather feel. The leather seems thinner and different somehow. So, I love the color and the artwork but do not want an expensive show piece that will not hold up over time. I would love to have your opinions, experiences, advice!!!

I've never been afraid of smooth leather. I prefer it over pebbled. I feel that designers use pebbled because they can use inferior leather as the pebbling will hide any imperfections. Conditioner usually works wonders. However, if you are going to panic at every scratch, then maybe this isn't the bag for you. It most likely won't remain pristine with a lot of use.
@whateve, thank you so much for your feedback! I like your take on the use of pebbled vs smooth leather. I am a firm believer that bags are to be used- so occasional scratches won't bother me at all- and I do regularly condition my bags. The leather on this bag is soft and supple and it feels wonderful- it took me a day or two to reconcile the difference between the leather of this bag with that of 1941 bags- but I have come to the conclusion that both are wonderful in their own way.
