I had understood that the corporation would be called Tapestry but that their brands would remain under their original names - does anyone know if that is true?

Tapestry is supposed to be just the overall corporate name just like LVMH for Louis Vuitton , that's what the official announcement said a few weeks ago. That constant harping in "Coach, now Tapestry" is not only annoying but is going to be confusing a lot of people. I don't know what moron wrote the copy for that video but that part of it sucks.

"Coach officially became known as Tapestry today, but don’t expect to see Tapestry stores popping up any time soon. The name change is just for corporate purposes; Coach the brand will be keeping its name, as will Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, the company’s two recent acquisitions..."

And now the company can combine the profits (hopefully) of all their divisions under a generic name so that the winners' numbers can cover up the losers' losses' without dragging the Coach name down. Now it's "TAPESTRY reported a third-quarter loss..." blah blah blah, instead of "COACH reported a third-quarter loss.."

Coach would be total f***ing MORONS to change a name known internationally and with a 75-year history in the business for a throwaway name some exec pulled out of his poop chute. Of course this IS Coach we're talking about, so who knows?

Interesting, thanks for posting it! But I think if she'd said "Coach, now Tapestry" one more time I would have smashed my laptop against the wall.
I couldn't finish the video because of that. I was about ready to start screaming about Tapestry being the corporate name, not the brand name. You'd think a website that bills itself "the place where future billionaires come to get inspired" would understand the difference.
