I snagged an Elisa in walnut for me. The SA tried to moisturize it but the marks did not come out. It is the number "74" rubbed into the leather.

First of all -- awesome bag, my friend has that, and I almost went for it but I'm too small for such a big bag. I got the Bleecker woven pocket hobo instead (similar in style)....
I believe that bag is made of Nappa leather and Coach cleaners and moisturizers are not recommended anyway...this leather is more oily than others, so I would rub the mark with your fingers, it certainly won't hurt. They recommend that for the specialty leather...the oil from the skin works with the leather to fade marks.

Oh no! At least it is on the back so it won't show when you wear it. I think my fav. color in the Elisa is the walnut - but maybe I am biased since that's the one I have. 
The Elisa is the same burnished leather as the rest of last year's Bleecker collection, so you can use conditioner on it, but not cleaner.
I wonder if a leather specialist could help with those marks?

While I realize it may bother you, if you got a great deal I think it is ok. I can barely make it out in the pics and I am sure the beauty of the rest of the bag deters from the flaw.

I bet if will fade/blend in over time. If you know a good cobbler/leather guru they can probably give you some advice. I'd be worried that if you tried to dye or stain it that it may become more prominent over time.
It's on the back of the purse, right? Heck, if I were you, nothing short of the "f-bomb" on an Elisa would keep me from carrying her!

As mentioned, this bag is made of Burnished leather and you can use COACH Moisturizer. That might 'help' the marks blend in? I also wonder if using Apple Conditioner would help as well?
I wouldn't try to do anything that is intended to change/darken the color. Moisturizing would be my limit because you don't want to cause further damage.
Given that the marks are on the back and they are faint, I would consider how much I paid for it and just enjoy wearing it!

I would have cried in public! I want an Elisa and if I would have found one at the outlet on Tuesday when I was there and it had those marks on it, I would have bawled. 
I would try some apple and rubbing with the fingers to blend in. I hope you keep it. I love that bag!
