How am I supposed to clean this? I'm assuming any liquid jewelry cleaner would damage the pearls and any moisture could get inside the holes in the pearls where they are strung. Just a silver polishing cloth and a damp soft towel? I love this, but I'm not great with delicate jewelry. I have only worn it a few times and the silver lock has scratches :( Any suggestions?

I was looking at the pearl hardwear necklace and wondering the same thing. Any answers? I don’t live near a Tiffany store so relying on them regularly isn’t an option and using a silver polishing cloth would be difficult with all these little silver pieces next to the pearls :whut:

I was looking at the necklace when it first came out but didn’t get it because of it…
Silver oxides really quickly and should be kept in an air tight bag. On the other hand pearls need to breathe!
I suppose you can clean the hardware with a special silver polishing cloth but avoid touching the pearls. A little gentle toothbrush can clean in between too.

It’s a shame they didn’t think of having a clasp between the fully-silver chain side and the pearl/ silver chain side for separate storage.

I have a couple items silver sterling with pearls but not expensive ones. Either I store them in a plastic anti tarnish small ziplock bag or just the part that has the silver goes in the bag. It’s really difficult to clean the
silver when it’s tarnished without touching the pearls…
I haven’t had issues with the pearls. They are still shiny.
I hope that Tiffany has a rhodium plating on the silver as it prevents the tarnish for quite some time.

Microfibre jewellery cloth and nothing else - can be used on both Pearl and Silver. I have the cloth from T&Co to polish my Gucci silvers. The T&Co SA was saying it can be used on any gem or Pearl too - confirm with your SA.

Freshwater pearls are easier to maintain because they are nearly 100% nacre versus the saltwater ones I have which are fussy.

That’s why I only got pearls on 18k gold. Less the maintenance issue despite the higher price point.

I love silver jewelry, but I agree, I avoid buying any porous stones set in sterling silver. Tarnish is inevitable on silver (unless it's plated), and it's difficult not to transfer the tarnish onto porous stones while using a silver polishing cloth and/or silver polish. Plus, the polish itself should not come into contact with porous stones like pearls.
