  1. Hi ladies-
Just bought a vintage chanel backpack off ebay. It is in magnificent shape but there is a really bad.. vintagey old grandma smell and I guess I am just being a germaphobic but is there a way to clean the chain straps? Maybe just wipe it down with water? Will that hurt them?

I've read in previous posts that you can use unscented baby wipes to clean the lambskin leather. Can these be used on the chains too?

    Thanks!

  2. You can probably bring the bag into Chanel to get the straps changed, otherwise you can try using leather conditioner to clean it yourself. There are lots of threads about conditioners, most recommend Appleguarde. Do a search and you'll find lots of info.
