Classical Tiffany's Setting VS Lucida (booth platinium)

I like the classic round brilliant better. I actually didn't know what Lucida was, so I looked on their website and it seems to be a cross between round and princess. I'm not that into princess solitaires, and I think round diamonds look a lot better in the 6 prong setting. This Lucida looks like the round diamonds I've seen set in 4 prong settings. Are you getting the plain (no accent diamonds/extra designs) setting in either of these? If so, I would definitely go with the round.

The Lucida because it's more like a cushion cut and I like that shape. When I got engaged I got a classic six prong Tiffany setting and now many years later I prefer something with a little more to it. The Lucida setting is plain, but also a bit more than the classic.

I have the Tiffany classic round brilliant and I love it. Before I got engaged/married, I was deciding between the same two rings, and I am SO glad I decided on the round brilliant. The Lucida is certainly a beautiful ring too, but the diamond is square-shape, so not quite as sparkly as the round brilliant and has more metal, so definitely a different look. When I tried the Classic 6-prong on, I couldn't keep my eyes off the diamond, as it was center-stage, but when I tried the Lucida on, I thought the heavier setting detracted from the diamond a little bit.

You definitely can't go wrong with either ring, but I STRONGLY recommend the round brilliant. Unless your girlfriend specifically mentioned that she wants the Lucida, definitely go with the RB 6-prong. You will not regret it...It's the more popular ring, and is the ring that I think most girls swoon for.

In response to your age inquiry, I was 25 when we got engaged. It's only been 2 years since then, but my preferences haven't changed. I think the RB is fantastic for people of all ages.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

the lucida is definitely on the "stronger" side with a thicker band. i thought i liked it too until i tried it on and it overwhelmed my finger with too much metal. i would go with the classic tiffany solitaire as well.

The classic round. Truly an exquisite, iconic piece.

The Lucida is nice too but is a bolder, heavier look. If your GF is into tradition and femininity, the classic round is for her. If she's artsier, funkier, into contemporary art, or generally slightly less traditional, the Lucida would be good. Has she ever hinted at what type of e-ring she would like?

based on the two choices above, I would go with the Tiffany setting because round diamonds are more brilliant.

however, based on your threads I understand that you are looking to purchase a stone about .5ct. I was to suggest the ribbon ring as well. The setting is quite interesting to look at and as well makes the stone look bigger because there are no claws
