Classic flap m/l black - different caviars?

Hi! I got 2 chanel medium classic flaps. Do newer classic flaps really have shinier caviar and lesser grains? Or it just vary from year to year? Thank you!

Series 19 - Matte caviar and you can see the grains are more embossed

I have noticed it varies year to year and to some degree bag to bag.

Leather batches cannot all be the same. But I also think Chanel changed the way they want caviar to be presented, changed the formula leather is treated. And just like you said, it's become softer, more refined, but still sturdy. I think it's a good move.

Thanks for sharing! I've recently purchased a Chanel classic flap caviar from the shop itself and only noticed that the grains were really flat when I got home. It was driving me nuts a little as I wasn't sure if it was normal.

Every single batch and year is different. I’ve even noticed it can vary from actual piece to piece in the same season and bag type.

It varies from piece to piece. My last purchase in boutique was in 2023 and I was lucky to be shown 4 pieces. All different, all beautiful but some were very bumpy and matte, one shiny and puffy, another shiny and flat. I went with the shiny and slightly puffy.
