Hello! I am looking to buy a special bag for my anniversary and I am all over the place! Can you please give me your opinions?

I have wanted a Lady Dior (medium) for a long time. I was reluctant because of the lambskin and I had heard that some people found the zipper opening too tight. But the Ultra Matte Lady Dior has the flap opening that tucks in and it is calfskin. I worry about the color on the black metal Dior chipping (They supposedly fixed the issue. I know hardware it going to get banged up - it is what it is - but since there is a different color metal underneath it might look bad?)

Quilted Caviar Chanel Classic Flap in Medium: I would probably buy pre-loved. It's beautiful, I love the history of it and, like the Lady Dior, it will be a forever classic. My concern is that I won't wear it as often because it is dressy.

I tried on a Medium Fendi Peekaboo in calfskin and fell in love (open to Mini as well). I like that it's casual enough to wear on a daily basis (but is it special enough for the occasion?). I think it will be a classic bag, but I am not sure because it is so popular right at this moment. The slouch is adorable and a inherent characteristic of the bag, but I worry about structural damage. Is it true that the newer ones remain more structured than in the past? I don't know if it slouches a lot by itself or if you have to make it do that.

I tried on the LV Capucines in both BB and PM. It's a beautiful bag, but I wasn't in love. Am I missing something?

Thank you!!!

I’m not much of an LV fan but I do love the Capucines. But that said, if you don’t love it don’t get it. I like the Fendi also. In Chanel I prefer reissue over classic, don’t like the logo. I’m missing something with the Lady Dior, just don’t get its appeal. So I’ve been no help.

I can see why you’re having such a hard time deciding because these are all classic beauties. The only reason I’m saying no to the Chanel is because you said it would be preloaded. For an anniversary gift, I suggest going new so that leaves the other 3. It seems like the Lady Dior is what you want and I say go for it. I have 2 and they’re in the top when in comes to my favorites. And Dior has the best after care service. Whether you go for the lambskin (which is not delicate) or the ultra matte, you can’t go wrong. I also have the Capucines too and I love it but it doesn’t seem like love for you so I’d cross that off your list. I don’t have the peekaboo but I do love the look of it and I’ve heard great things about this bag.

This reply might be too late. But maybe consider to have a custom-made peekaboo? I own Chanel, LV etc., but I’d say the Salleria peekaboo is the most beautiful and durable of all the bags I own. I just picked up my MTO peekaboo yesterday, it took 6 months to arrive but worth the wait. I have attached a picture for you, although the picture doesn’t really do its justice, the outside is dark blue, inside is red, which you can’t see. It’s really stunning.

That is stunning!

Chanel! I think it’s adorable even when you wear casuals. Maybe try to search some inspiration on pinterest first on how to dress it down? You might love it ❤️

Not sure when your anniversary is, but I wouldn't rush into choosing, naturally you will want this bag to last the longest time and stay in love with it.

I would visit each forum in turn and learn as much as you can there about the various model. Start a thread if the issue isn't already listed. Some of those members never really venture out their favourite brand's sphere.

I would be more reluctant to go for the Chanel CF as for this gift I think it better to go new. That you think it may be too dressy puts it out the running (I also find some my Chanel challenging to wear).

I would also worry about the hardware chipping on the matte LD and the structure of the Fendi PaB if that has been an issue.

Don't know enough about the LV to comment but the Cap is a nice looking bag.

I personally find the LD can be fairly dressy too. Obviously less so with the matter, but that hw worries me.

I love the idea of doing a custom order PaB a al @Peekaboo lover , then you could make it not only special but unique. For an anniversary gift that would be amazing.

Hi @Jill0819 , many congratulations on your big anniversary.
The custom peekaboos can be very expensive, nearly as much as a Birkin - that’s what the Fendi SA told me. Even the standard peekaboos I feel are overpriced. Today, a mini peekaboo costs the same as a lady Dior, and the larger essentially peekaboo costs more than a Chanel coco handle. To contextualise a classic LV Empreinte bag (eg LV Neo alma in the medium size is nearly USD 1500 cheaper).

Chanel classic flap doesn’t fit that much though, you will have to compromise on your daily essentials, so if you do get it, then Lambskin will complement the nicer outings and lunches.

I think you can consider the lady Dior medium with the covered flap in leather (I have one, it’s dressy) or the LV Cappuccines maybe in red! (From pictures it looks to suit casual and dressy occasions). They are substantial bags.
I hope that helps! Have a wonderful anniversary.
