I’ve searched everywhere and cannot find an answer. I am confident the city is being phased out and I wanted another one new before it is. I purchased the bag today online and it does say “AJ”. I’ll compare it to my others. I pray it’s the same!!

Paging @muchstuff for an answer to this question.
What is the difference between this and the classic city bags? I can't see any difference but why is this called "AJ"?

I remember trying to find an answer when this first started. The only possibility we came up with was the fact that the straps became adjustable about the time the "AJ" was added to the description. But I don't know for sure if that has anything to do with it. Or what "AJ" stands for!

Thanks! Have you personally noticed a difference? Have you seen the AJ in person?
Not sure who you're asking, they've added AJ to the City for a number of season now so any of the more recent bags would be included under that name. Depends what you're comparing it to when you're asking about a difference. There's a difference between an 05 classic and a 2010 classic so yes, there would be a difference between them and the more current styles. But I'm not sure specifically what you're asking about.

I have seen new resale bags that say both AJ and do not say AJ. So, I was asking if you’ve seen them both in person and could see a difference in them. I’m inferring from your response they’re all called AJ at this point

If they're secondary market that would explain why some may be labeled that way. I believe all of the current City bags are labelled as AJ. If you can see the strap perhaps you could check if it's adjustable or not on the bags that don't say AJ. But again, if they're secondary marker it could just be the way the seller is listing them?

My apologies - I meant reTAIL.

Ah OK, no idea then. Do you have a link to any of the bags that aren't listed as AJ?

Hey I'm in Vancouver too! Both of those bags have adjustable straps so I have to admit to being at a loss. If those are current listings I wonder if they've just dropped the AJ from the title? Where have you seen current bags with AJ still in the description?
