Consolidation of all the threads on CL care, maintenance, cleaning etc. Lets try and keep it going and add more data in here, links to other threads on the subject or experiences with different items products below. I thought this would be useful, almost every week there are new posts on the subject.

How do I Protect the Red Sole?

You have several options.

How to Clean and Care for Exotic Skin?
Exotics need regular conditioning so it doesnt dry and flake. Monthly application is sufficient. Use Bick 4 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner.

How to Care for Satin?
Apple Garde Rain and Stain Repellent, Scotch Guard

How to Clean and Care for Suede?
Immediately before wear apply Apple Rain and Stain Repellent. If cleaning is needed the Apple product line also carries a Apple Suede and Nubuck Cleaner.

How to Clean and Care for Leather\Jazz?
Apple Leather Cleaner. Note some cleaning or leather conditioning may remove shine. Try a small spot first.

How do I keep Patent Leather Shiny?
Other than usual leather care, for keeping shine some TPF-ers suggested the following:
Petroleum jelly
Baby Wipes
Windex

How do I Remove Black Marker Lines?
TPF ladies suggest Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

How do I get rid of Sticker or Sticker Residue from the sole?
Some people use Nail Polish Remover, Goo Gone or Afta Adhesive Removal

My shoes fart, squeak or rub too much on my feet, help!
Applying stick deodorant, Bandaid BlisterBlock or get an insole or partial insole to fill gaps. Talcum powder was also suggested.

Great idea Leda!

Something to add - when using Scotchguard on your satin, make sure none of it gets on the soles of the shoe, because it will leave a white residue and remove the shine. A great way to avoid this is to tape some newspaper to the bottom of the shoe while you're spraying - this way there's no accidents and your soles stay beautiful.

And, when that happens you can paint over it with the Louboutin red paint. :yes:

OR, you can take a cotton swab with a small amount of alcohol and lightly dab the white spots. I did it and they came off just fine and did not remove the shine.

You can also use the magic erase to remove the black mark (non-returnable mark) on the insoles. It may take a few or several sipes but it gets the job done.
