City OUTside pocket - carried outside or inside?

My pocket faces outside. It's where I keep my cellphone so I like it to be out and handy.

I usually end up carrying mine with the pocket facing outward, I think it's easier to reach the stuff that I put in there.

I always thought the pocket was meant to be on the outside and that's my preference - however, I've been thinking of turning the bag around because the other side looks shinier than the pocket side. Is this possible? I feel I might have to "even it out" - know what I mean? Does this occur to anyone else?
