Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone bought expensive watches from Costco before? I want to get the mid size Chopard happy sport watch with 7 flowing diamonds. I saw it on costco's website for a great price. Is it real? thanks

Think people are way to paranoid about not buying from an AD. AD means its a marketing tool to get more money out of you. Been buying watches for 30 years, know the game. Have a master degree in marketing & the AD dealers love it when people fall for this one. And it means alot of money to these AD dealers when people buy into this scam.
There will be someone who can fix your watch. They'll probably do it for less money too.
I bought a Harry Winston watch, not from AD of HW & HW had no problem taking it & giving it a cleaning. Nothing was added to it so why should they care where I bought it. They made their money at the wholesale level or they wouldn't of sold it to a none AD.

I've bought watches from Costco, Overstock, Jomashop and The Watchery -- all higher end watches. I returned a Tag to Costco and it was about a $2500 watch and I had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I returned a Bedat for about $1800 to Overstock and although it was kind of a hassle and required a couple of phone calls, they took it back and I received full credit.

The other two were a bit slow on shipping and also required a signature on delivery if I remember correctly. Haven't returned a watch to either of those and don't know if I'd want to try. :smile1:

The watch I bought from Jomashop was Ebel and it was gorgeous -- however, the bracelet was too small for me. Although it said up to 7.5" it was only 7" and my wrist is 7.25" (large bones - argh). I called around and found an AD for Ebel and gave them the # from the back of the watch and was able to order two links and had my local jeweler put them in. When the AD asked where I purchased the watch, I said it was a gift from my mom and I had no idea.

Saw someone last week returning a empty bottle of syrup attached to a full one at Costco. Yes, they gave them credit for both. Have seen this several times, wish I had the guts to say something to these thieves. Guess in their country this is normal behavior.
Costco has an agreement with companies who sell there they will take back anything at any time. so I've been told by one of the checkers who encouraged me to return a couple old electric toothbrushes. No I will not do this. I used the toothbrushes for years & they just finally got funky looking on the handle so I replaced them. Got my moneys worth.

Would not hesitate to buy from costco.

thanks for all the replies. now, I have to decide which size to get. The bigger one with 7 diamonds is 36mm, my wrist measures 6inches. is that too big for me? I have seen girls with big watches, and it looks great on them, feel like I can't pull it off for some reason. I didn't get a chance to take a pic with the watch on at the store

I have a 40 mm watch, and my wrist is 5 1/4" .. don't be afraid of the large faces ! :graucho:

I appreciate this advice. I have always thought the AD line was a scare tactic perpetuated by the jewelers. If I buy an authentic, unaltered watch from another source, how in the world is the service department going to know that? I have never been asked for a receipt when I take my watches in for service.

^ This is true - when I bought my Rolex online from a non AD, Rolex didn't even need to see the card when I brought it in for complementary (!) servicing.
