Hi ladies,

I usually hang out in the Hermes section, and I am actually in Paris for the Hermes sale, but as I have been unable to bag an H-bag this trip, I am considering watches.

My choices are between a Chopard Classique (similar to these but in white gold) and a Chanel j12 (white 33mm, no diamonds). The j12 is approx €1k more, so I am wondering if it is 'worth it'.

I know these are two COMPLETELY different watches, so making the choice is a really hard decision! I do not have any kind of a watch collection, so this will be something I will want to wear a) frequently and b) for a long time, and as I don't have a lot of watches already, it's hard for me to say which one I would use more just yet.

I'm 27 now, so I'm wondering do many older ladies wear the j12? Does either one hold their value better than the other? Would you only wear the j12 in the day, and would you only wear the Chopard at night? I am open to all kinds of opinion and input, so please share your thoughts!

chopard.
other fashion houses are imitating j12 and they all end up looking similar loosing their individuality and exclusiveness.
my take go for a chopard. forever timeless forever classic. especially if its your first watch. Build a collection of classics first. let this be your first step. Then go on and get trendy watches or limited edition ones.

I like both Chopard and Chanel

If you want a J12 watch style - consider the J12 for sure

I am not keen on the look of that Chopard watch - I would rather go for something like a patek, omega, rolex, cartier in that sort of style before Chopard.

If you love the Chopard brand - For me the watch would be the Happy diamonds range.

Have fun trying on whatever you decide and if you cannot decide now, take your time and think it over, you can always get it again.:smile1:

I prefer the J12 - I find the Chopard a little too.. wishy washy ? I'm not sure if that's the right words, it looks a lot like every other dressy watch, e.g. Cellinis.

I wear my diamond bezel white J12 everyday. Indestructable!!! But lately people have asked me..."is that a Michael Kors, Michele, ToyWatch (fill in the blanks)? :cursing: I even wear it with an expensive tennis bracelet, no matter! Maybe it's the diamond bezel? When a say it's Chanel, I get a blank stare...who would have thunk? I know, and that's all that counts.
I'd buy another one, in a heartbeat!!!

It should be indestructible, it's made out of the same material as the space shuttle! Anyway, I know what you mean about look-a-likes. I have several friends (that have a ton of money) and they all have the Michael Kors version. I think people are more inclined to buy a cheaper version because they are concerned that the ceramic may be a bit trendy and fall out of favor. Honestly, I love the J12, but I'd be more likely to buy a cheaper version too.

^^So interesting...thanks for the info, VHDOS! Yea, expensive, but sometimes you just have to treat yourself! Well...that's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!

I'd go for the Chopard. Simply because you don't see it everyday, making it a little more exclusive (if that type of thing matters to you). All said and done, you should go for what YOU like.
