I have a Longines watch so I'm biased. My family has a thing with Longines as well - my mom bought my dad a Longines watch as a wedding gift in Taiwan right before he left to go to the states for grad school. It's been 33 years and he still wears his watch ;).

In this case I would choose the Longines because it has an automatic movement. The Aqua Terra is gorgeous, but that one has a quartz movement.
Take a look at the Aqua Terra with an 8500 Cal. I think it is listed as the Mid Size Chronometer on their website.

Tough...it's comparing automatic and quartz. Firstly, do you prefer auto or quartz? Secondly, is there a budget? Thirdly, there's also a two tone Aqua Terra.

I don't like Longines's bracelet, it's a bit dated.

I agree with this. I like the Omega better in terms of the overall appearance, however I would choose an automatic over a quartz. Another thing that I don't like about the Longines is that it is two-tone, but that is just more of a personal choice. Regardless, both are very nice looking and classic. Good luck with your choice!

thank you all so much for your opinions. i really appreciate them!

hi nvie! i want to keep it under $3,000 and i think the omega chronometer is a bit out of my budget. and i prefer to have white face, no diamond markers. and the only two tone i found in omega is black face unless i just missed it. idk. still liking both equally :D

If you are wanting to stay under 3k, then Longines is an excellent choice. They use ETA movements which is part of the Swatch group; the same company that owns Omega.

Louis&Mark - If you want to keep it below $3,000, the automatic stainless steel Omega as well as the two tone Omega exceed the amount.

I would go for Omega. I don't think the men's size comes with diamond markers, only the ladies, which is 30mm. Men's quartz comes in 2 colours, white and grey dial. Personally, I prefer the grey dial as you see the vertical lines, which are really beautiful.

See this thread if you want to see the men's quartz in grey dial. Also comparison pics between men's and ladies's, both quartz.
