Good question! My theory is that it was an it bag and was very popular at some point and then sales declined sharply. Chloe introduced variations of the bag but it didn’t seem to reignite interest. I think they thought to discontinue it, focus on producing more colors and variations of the similarly shaped yet more practical mini marcie bag and maybe reintroduce the drew again in the future. Maybe they are hoping it will become like the dior saddle bag—a trendy bag that is now a classic style. Personally, I think the drew is a very feminine style evening bag.I kind of regret selling mine but I can probably repurchase on the secondary market for a great price.
The reason I hesitate is I’m worried about the knotted chain metal straps snapping. I’ve heard of that happening.
