Chipping/scratch on new Hermes Kelly hardware?

Hi,

I purchased a Kelly to go wallet a year ago in boutique. It was never used but I just noticed the hardware shows light chipping/scratches. It’s noticeable when looked at closely (attached are both close ups and zoomed out photos)

I’m also noticing some yellowing around the sides of the straps (again this is new and never worn. Epsom Nata color)

Is it worth it to take it to the store to fix in your opinions? Or is it not worth it and pretty minimal issues? There is a chance I might end up selling it too. Thank you.

If, after a year, you are only now noticing flaws, you have weak grounds for restitution from the shop. You have no way to prove that you have never used or or caused the flaws.

Regardless of them being minimal issues or not.
I hope you are not intending to sell without divulging the flaws
caveat emptor

Yea if I decided to sell, 100% I would make the buyer aware! I’m just debating if it’s worth going through the fix now (which sounds like I probably need to pay for it since it’s been a year), or just let it be.

I am not wishing to suggest that what you see is unimportant, because no imperfections, however small, should be just talked away like that.
You know they are there. However, you are the only person who would be aware of them. In use, are you going to hand the bag for inspection, together with a magnifying glass, to the people you are with.
If it is a bag you otherwise like/love and would wish to replace, just think how difficult that might be.
I admit, that if I want to buy something and discover a flaw, no offered reduction would tempt me to continue with the purchase,
because I hate to have something that is not as it should be.
If I have something that was otherwise perfect and developed some small imperfection, I could live with that.
That may seem inconsistent, but I have to admit that is how I am wired.
To be blunt, other than not having something that is absolutely perfect, this is not an issue to worry about.

IMO, the metal issue is pretty minimal. That seems like something that could happen by someone, like an SA, opening and closing it a few times. Even if you were to get a 100% new one from the factory, you will probably cause that wear after a few days of wearing. That’s usually my standard for whether to return or not (or even to purchase pre-owned): is this something I’d inevitably do myself after a few wears? Especially for a hard to get item, it’s not worth the hassle of returning.

Yellowing could be another issue but is that depicted in your photos? If so then seems minimal to me, as I can’t even see it…. but if not then I’d have to see it to judge. I wonder if it’s dust or some residue that could be wiped off with a soft cloth or even baby wipe?

If you're going to keep it and use, then you could consider getting new hardware but bear in mind with use, it will get scratched up anyway.

If you sell, disclose these small flaws and see what happens, it might bother some people or it might not. If it's someone's dream wallet, it might not matter.

You ' could' take it into Hermes where you bought it and ask for their advice, as you haven't used it, how much would new hardware cost and how long to do etc. It might even be a quality control issue which has happened to others, so could be worth asking but to not expect anything to be done after all this time, but it might be worth a try.

Thank you. My other kelly/lindy hardwares don’t have this kind of chipping even after worn many years, but I admit it’s only visible when I look closely.

The yellowish shade doesn’t get capture well with my phone. I saw in some other posts that it tends to happen to white colored bags in Epsom leather :/ I will give soft cloth a try!
