Chip in month-old JUC ring

Feel a bit silly but as it's on the outside of the band and it wasn't there before this morning, still think it's a chip. Unless I honestly didn't notice it for the passed month.
For some reason, in France, they regularly place the hallmarks (2 of them - an eagle's head and a makers mark in a diamond) on the outside back of the band, when the ring has a clear "front" side. I have seen this on many vintage Cartier and VCA pieces in particular. I have also seen them regularly placed on the back of JUC rings. Here are a couple examples where you can see that the hallmarks on the back of a JUC. If you took a very high def picture of that mark on your ring, you will see it is either the eagle's head or the makers mark in a diamond.

Yes. This is not a chip. When I first noticed mine, I thought it was a chip too. I took it to Cartier, and they explained it to me. Breathe a sigh of relief. If it helps, I have hit my JUC ring really hard on multiple things, and it has yet to chip or ding.

haha. when I first noticed this "chip" - I was so disappointed, not at the store, but at myself - Why did not I inspect it carefully when I bought it in store? I really hated myself for this! But after asking in this forum, I was totally relieved. Thanks to all!
