Hello BV ladies (and gents). I was on a girls trip this weekend and bought a China Red Pillow. I immediately moved into it, and enjoyed it for a few hours. To my horror, I noticed some color transfer from my old, washed many times, jeans!!!! I am besides upset! I immediately went back to the BV store and the manager was not helpful (actually she was borderline rude).

Anyone else has experienced color transfer on their red BVs? Here is a picture BEFORE the upsetting color transfer. I am pretty devastated. (My friend bought the Billeto in Atlantic, which is so pretty! I now wished I had bought my pillow in Atlantic!)

It is so upsetting to hear this. To begin with, colour transfer is always a concern when buying a light-coloured BV bag. My suggestion will be, let it be. But if you want to keep your bag, just use one side to your body, and keep it all through. For fresh stains, there are cleaning creams specially for leather. Apply that to the area that needs cleaning.

Or, you may bring your bag to some experts, who can repaint your bag.

Any light colored bag can experience color transfer from denim, no matter how old the denim is. It is not the fault of the bag maker whatsoever, and I can understand the attitude of the manager (although the manager could have been kinder to you, for sure).

As has been suggested, continue enjoying your pretty bag with the side toward you that is discolored. Repainting the bag is not an option at this point as you’d be spending even more money and you’d be ruining the original soft lambskin finish - if it upsets you that much, you can consider rehoming it. I once had a Safran Pillow that experienced this sort of color transfer, only from the red shirt I was wearing - I got rid of the red shirt and ultimately rehomed the Safran Pillow; even turned toward my body it didn’t help, because the color was on the strap as well. :annoyed:

So sorry this happened to you, my dear.:flowers:

Bummer! I didn’t have any experience with color transfer on my China Red peices. But, knock on wood, I’ve jever had color transfer even on my lightest bags.

Thank you ksuromax! I can definitely open the link! You are a brave woman:biggrin:. I may try it one day!
thank you :D
i am kicking myself for not taking pics, it would really help to see how easy it is, but i know it's not the last time i do it, hope, on our next 'wash day' i will remember to take pics :D

So sorry to read about your experience. It’s really sad, I understand you.

i have Pillow in Vesuvio, even brigher red than China Red, i am washing mine. Works just fine.
About washing. It seems to be an important knowledge. May be you can start a thread about urgent homemade treatments of BV?
I can add my experience about washing a suede interior. It was really like new after.
