Hi all! Sorry if this is a double post didn’t see anything quite the same.

My husband needs to travel to Europe for work & he can choose anywhere to make his meetings. Where can I save the most on Chanel ?

your expertise is appreciated

Looks like it’s Canada according to the website but don’t think that accounts for vat refund anywhere

Just remember that:
1) your credit card might charge extra for a foreign currency transaction
2) sales tax in Canada (5% to 15% depending on the province) is excluded from the price tag
3) duty when re-entering into your home country

Absolutely a great reminder. I bought goods in the UK back when you could get bad back and brought them back to the US and while I had a credit card that did not charge a foreign transaction fee and I did get some of the vat back I definitely did pay the customs tax for the United States won re-entering the country and depending upon what state you’re in you may now also pay sales tax for your state. Tennessee will charge.

Also, currency exchange rates. If you buy a bag in a foreign country, always ask to be charged in the currency of the country, otherwise the store charges you THEIR exchange rate which is usually higher than a bank will charge.

Wow! When did they start that? That's crazy! I was lucky enough to fly into Nashville before they had an international terminal and I wasn't charged anything.

As for the OP's question it has been a 3 years since I went but France was cheaper at the time.

Not sure where you can save the most, but Italy's VAT refund is some of the highest in Europe and since VAT is embedded in the sales price, the higher the refund, the cheaper the product becomes. Remember your husband will have to pay duties upon re-entry, so budget for that. You are only looking into a couple hundred dollars off after all is said and done. Not the craziest discount... on the plus side, Europe seems to have a lot more stock, so it may be easier to find whatever piece you're looking for :)

Last time I went, in summer in 2019, it was France and Italy. We flew out ofItaly and I think the refund was a bit more but not my much. I’d say go where they have multiple boutiques (Paris) so you can maximize your chance of finding the bag you want.
