Hi everyone,

With the current LV price increase coming and the rumbling of the classic monogram canvas *potentially* slowly being replaced by leather goods, do you think any monogram canvas items will be discontinued soon?
We recently saw the classic Louis Vuitton monogram canvas toiletry bags get discontinued but do you think there are any more items that will also be discontinued and if so what?

I felt like they were getting rid of a lot of the bigger bags in the monogram canvas. I can't imagine they would get rid of it entirely, given that many people's first purchase is something that has the most obvious LV material... but I am surprised at smaller things disappearing from the website. Let's face it, those who just want something from the brand / a memory of a visit to the store etc are more likely to go for the smaller items, and the monogram canvas.

Maybe this is LV's way of trying to head back into the very, very high end of fashion (aka an excuse to raise prices etc haha!). Fewer / less obvious logos, and fewer smaller pieces. ‍:amuse:

For me, monogram canvas is SO iconic that I'd be really disappointed if they dramatically reduce what's available in it. I'm just not sure I associate the very BEST leather bags (for the same price point) with LV. That could be just because I love the monogram too much though!!

ETA - is it less about reducing monogram canvas items vs reducing the toiletry bags etc? I wonder if they're moving away from their luggage roots into high end fashion... (I know a few people who will buy LV luggage, but won't touch their handbags, for example).

I was just in Paris at their flagship store and the SA laughed (in a polite way) when I asked about any monogram items. She meant it in a tone where someone has asked for an item that was 30 seasons ago and there is no way to get it.

I wonder what that means for my existing LV collection. Do I hold on to it if they will never release them again or sell it on to fund new bags since the pricing may be good ROI given the circumstances. I have not used any of the bags but got them a while back as a panic purchase with that price increases.

There is certainly an agenda here with no longer wanting to be the gateway drug for luxury items and deemed an entry level bag. Lets see how well they push the capucine - and push they have!

I sold ALL my monogram SLGs a few months ago. Of course received low prices because they were abundant. Now I couldn’t buy back my toiletry 26 for less than $1400 (sold for $600). Kicking myself because I actually did realize I used and missed them.
I’m transitioning to Chanel but LV did (do?) a better job for luggage items.

OMG I did the same thing before I knew what they were reselling for. You live and you learn. I did recently purchase the pochette accessoires and it was made in USA. It broke the week after I used it once. They just sent it for repair. I would have preferred that they switched it out but now I am stuck with it. Quality has gone down so I certainly understand your regret.
