First time poster here.

I bought my second Gucci bag last week; this is my first time buying from Bluefly.com. It was a slow day at work when I saw the bag. It disappeared and reappeared on the site a couple of times before I decided to buy it that afternoon. I normally need to “sleep on it” before I decide to make a big purchase but I thought that it was such a good deal I may never see it again. The bag I bought is the medium Charlotte hobo in brown Guccissima leather.

I hope this link still works: http://www.bluefly.com/Gucci-brown-guccissima-Charlotte-medium-hobo/cat340032/305067301/detail.fly

Anyway, I got the bag last night. Style-wise, I love it! But here I go second-guessing myself…

[1] There is some very minor scuffing on the piping on the bottom of the bag. Part of me says an expensive bag should be absolutely perfect but the other part of me says it’s so minor I could probably cause more noticeable scuffing on my own with a few weeks’ use.

[2] I read a thread here about the handle coming off at the metal “G” logo so I’m a little concerned that the same will happen to my bag. I’d love to hear from others who have this bag if they’ve had any issues with its durability at all.

[3] How reliable is Bluefly? Has there ever been an authenticity issue with the products they sell, bags especially? Also, I noticed that they attached a little tag to the bag for security purposes. I assume this is to prevent people from abusing the return policy turning Bluefly into a “rental” service – is this correct? The security tag on mine was attached to the strap. The problem is the strap is adjustable so all you had to do was unbuckle it and the tag slips right off. What’s to prevent a customer from abusing the return policy if the tag can be removed and reattached with ease?

Am I being paranoid? Did I get a good deal here? Should I keep it?

I should probably explain that I get a little weird when making an expensive purchase because I am frugal by nature. Maybe I just need someone to hold my hand while get over what I spent, LOL.

Sorry to hear about those minor scratches...can you maybe post some pictures here to let us see how bad it is?? I've never bought anything on BF myself but a lot of members have, and I'm sure they can give you good advice. Good luck!!

You got a very good deal for this bag! I have the exact same bag (see my avatar pic) and yours was less than mine, and mine is fabric! Don't worry about the scuffing, like you said, you will probably do worse....

Bluefly is authentic....a lot of girls here get their goods...

Btw...I've had my bag since the beginning of the year, and it is by far my favourite bag and have used it everyday for at least 4 months in a row. The G is secure, and doesn't look like it will ever fall apart. Looks really well made. I had the same concern, but I loved the look and style so much that I didn't care if it fell apart... My husband's cousin's wife actually had bought the same bag as me but with the white trim instead of the brown like me. When we showed up at the cottage this summer we both started laughing.....we have excellent taste!

You bag is a beauty...I wish I saw it in guccissima, because that is my preferred fabric.... I only have a black guccissima, so this would have been a good addition.....but I already have a charlotte fabric...so I will keep myself from getting it!! Even though it's a great deal!

Enjoy the bag!

I would still call BlueFly about the scratch if it really bothers you...maybe they can give you a discount.... if you are really worried about it being authentic, you can always pay the $8 bucks and get it authenticated at this website:

This was given to me from the girls on the authentication thread. The can tell you if you take lots of pictures of the bag, tag and serial numbers....

I have purchased several bags from BlueFly and have been extremely happy with my bags. I have never heard of anyone on tPF having issues with a bag not being authentic. I do think they should be more careful with where they place the security tags but with some bags there is no choice. You can call them when placing an order and they can tell you if the bag has been returned. I would try giving them a call about the scuffing. They may or may not adjust the price but you should be ready to send them some detailed pictures. Good luck and congrats on your new bag!

I agree with the post about contacting bluefly- if your persistent Im sure you can get a bit of a discount for the damage.

if the scuffs tiny- I'd really probably keep it, odds are your going to scuff it up a bit a long the way, so whats a tiny one where no one can really notice it?

Thanks for all your replies!

I tried to take pictures of the scuff marks last night but they proved hard to capture on camera. Maybe they really are too small to worry about. I will go about contacting Bluefly today.

I decided to keep the bag. I sent a very detailed email to Bluefly describing the scuff marks and my disappointment that the security tag wasn't placed quite so securely. They're giving me 10% off, yay!

Well done - fair enough really.

Even my Gucci store, full price Secret flap had a few scratches on and they wouldn't budge on price - it was a matter of take it or leave it - they look worse in photos though.

You could try polishing the scuff marks out. First with clear (colourless) polish and if that makes no difference - an exact colour match polish.
