Has anyone ever sent watch back to Rolex for a new dial? I have a SS 31 mm datejust , jubilee and fluted. The dial is rhodium Roman. I can’t read time anymore with my old eyes! I’d love to have a different dial. Here are my questions:
Will Rolex change dial?
What is price range?
Which combination do you recommend if they let me do diamond markers - black or pink face?

Thanks so much!

Hi! I think you need a bigger watch. I have the 31mm SS with pink dial, but now I wear a 40mm Daytona. I don’t even wear my 31mm anymore at all. Big watches are also fashionable now. You may want to look at the 36mm.

A new dial will not increase the size of the markers. If you cannot even “guess” what time it is with your current Roman numerals, changing to a different font will not make much of a difference since you still have to “guess” anyway.

A new dial is $1K and higher. Note also if you want to do an official Rolex pairing, Rolex only allows certain dials on certain models. You can go after market but your watch will no longer be an official Rolex so you may want to check on if Rolex will service your watch if you decide to go off market. And I mean the official Rolex Service, not an “authorized dealer” which there are issues in using an “authorized dealer”vs. sending it directly to Rolex. For me, I only send directly to Rolex.

I would suggest you go to a store and try on different dials on a 31mm to make sure you can see them the way you like. Also try on a 36mm or even a 40mm. My gut says a 36mm would work best for you.

I personally would not get a new dial if font size is your issue. Most people get a new dial to change up the look, not to see better.

Hope this helps.

To me, the color of the dial makes a big difference in reading the time. On some colors the hands disappear against the color of the dial. The hour markers are less important, they just need to be there. You know 12 is always at the top when you where it. I like a white dial for legibility.
