Changes in Kelly - when?

Okay ladies, in obsessing over the reference section on this forum, I've noticed that some Kellys appear to have two gold rings at the handle - one for the handle itself, and one for the optional shoulder strap (it sort of sticks out at a 45 degree angle). Other Kellys have only the ring that holds the handle.

I've attached a photo from the reference section that shows both styles. Is this something that was adapted later or is it there or not there due to type of leather?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes, that's correct, 2000 year, but I believe it's on it's way back out. Perhaps 2008.

I might have known the info was somewhere on this forum!!! Thanks for the repeat info.

Actually, since I use the shoulder strap, I much prefer the extra ring - makes the bag hang much better without interfering with the handle. I wonder why they're dropping it?

If my memory serves me well, LTC's Kelly has single-ring on the handle. The one she bought during her trip to Europe. I guess it is confirmed that there will be no more double-rings.
