I purchased a medium classic flap caviar in SHW 2 years ago. Pretty soon after I totally regretted getting it in silver and wish I had gotten it gold. My bag is in perfect condition and looks brand new. I don’t have a Chanel boutique near me. Closest location is 3 hours away inside a Neiman Marcus. Has anyone changed the color of their hardware? Would love it if hardware was gold! Is this something Chanel would be willing to do?

I've never heard of that service and I really doubt it but you should call them. Since the bags have serial numbers or now microchipped it might be registered with a certain hardware. I bet the value would go down as well.
There’s a very old post that this was able to be done by Chanel at that one point in time but it was for the most part, discouraged. Now, it’s something they won’t do and I believe even Leather Surgeons won’t (as it makes the bag inauthentic and by changing it, goes against their policy).
You are right about Leather Surgeons. I was surprised to find out they would not work with me because my bag needed hardware restoration. I lost it when I moved and didn't find it until 6 years later when I was cleaning out my stuff from my parents house. It was packed up in a plastic bin and sat outside in all the elements of mother nature. Beauty now a beast...if i can find someone willing to do this I'd have it done in a heartbeat. Either way I have no intention of getting rid of it even if I'll never use it again. Smells like mold and has so many things wrong but it was my first Chanel.
I don't think you can change hardware color. It is what it is. But SHW is pretty too. Most of my Chanels are GHW, but I do have the white jumbo in SHW from over 12 years ago. It still looks refreshing.
THB, even hardware color goes in and out of fashion. 15 years GHW followed by 15 years SHW, and back and forth. Something like that. Keep yours. Enjoy it!
Nope. The only time I ever heard of this in all my time on the forum was 1 person way back when this Q was asked, claimed they got some boutique to do it, but never would say where or basically offer further info. They will not do anything that changes the original design. This is also why they won't alter chains etc.
Hi! I currently have the same problem. I bought mine May 2022, I never used it. Now I want to buy another one in ghw but I don't what to do with this one. Some say that I could ask my SA if they would be willing to accept my bag for a return/exchange since I have never used it
